HI. This is basically a thermistor code. This object is very important and the unit will not function correctly if the circuit is open. Due to the fact that you have the code present; this will confirm that the thermistor has failed(open circuit). This will require you to have the thermistor replaced, asap. Once replaced; the unit will operate properly.

The suspect component will be mounted inside the unit on the blower housing or vent assembly. This is the principle temperature monitor.

That code is for the thermistor. It usually means that you have to replace it.

Error Message E1 Dries for 3 minutes then stops and gives the error message

E1 means open thermistor. Clean lint duct assembly and blower. Make sure you have good air stream from the vent outside. If this doesn’t help, replace the thermistor.

Dryer Problem

EC4 The temperature of air vent
Within 30 minutes of dry cycle there is 5 minutes in which the temperature is not increasing.

You need to call for repairs. Probably the heating element is faulty.

You can create a custom program without a dry cycle and hang dry your clothing.

E-2 error code on whirlpool duet dryer

“E2” flashes if the thermistor has shorted.

The thermistor monitors the exhaust temperature
and cycles the high-limit thermostat on
and off to maintain the desired temperature.
1. Turn the dryer off but keep the electrical
supply connected.
2. Make sure that the dryer is empty and that
the lint screen is clean.
3. Close the dryer door.
4. Select Heavy Duty, Timed Dry, More Time
or Less Time, End of Cycle Signal (Louder)
and Start.
5. If error codes E1 or E2 flash on the display
after 1 minute and the dryer turns off,
the thermistor, or the wire harness, is either
shorted or open. Check the wire connections
at the thermistor or the machine
control electronics board. If wiring checks
okay, replace the thermistor.
6. If the dryer seems to operate normally, remove
the exhaust vent and start the dryer.
7. Select the desired temperature cycle to be
tested, and select 20 minutes of Timed Dry
heat using the More Time or Less Time
pushbuttons.

Dryer will not stay running through entire cycle or it will just stop before clothers are dry and sometimes get a E1 error message. Mostly it will just stop and clothes are not dry, times that is runs...

Most customer manuels have a code listing in the back? Have you checked to see what E1 is? It sounds like its not sensing properly. the sensor works off the vent...so the most common problem is the vent or venting. Please check and advise
