After taking one picture with my Kodak Easyshare

After taking a picture with my Kodak Easyshare Z1285 the red button flashes several times next to the screen (towards the bottom of the back of the camera) and then the blue light on top flashes a few times and the lens re-tracts back in and the camera shuts off. Any ideas?
This is problematic because if you want to take another picture right away you have to turn the camera back on and wait for it to get started to take another picture. So by then you have missed your next shot.

I've had a similar problem with my Z1285.

The problem is probably weak batteries. The Z1285 requires really good batteries. Standard alkaline batteries don't last very long, perhaps a few dozen shots, less if you are using flash.

I've had success using lithium batteries, not the rechargeable type, but the disposable lithium. Specifically, the AA4 Energizer Ultimate Lithium.

Hope this helps.

Something is most definitely not right. Try this company; https://www.teleplancamerarepair.com/Kodak_EasyShare_Z1285
they also do a cleaning on your camera as part of the repair.
just don't keep shaking the camera in case there are loose pieces or about to be, so as to not make matters worse.

Flash wont work

Use the flash when you take pictures at night, indoors, or outdoors in heavy shadows. You can chose what flash mode, by pressing several times on the little button on top of the camera where the lightening logo is. One of the settings is flash off. Make sure it is not in that mode, because even when it is dark the flash won't fire. The other modes are flash, fill in flash and red eye reduction flash.

After putting new batteries in my kodak easyshare z1285 camera it will not take pictures what could be the problem I have always had good luck with this camera

I would make sure that you haven't reversed the positive and negative terminals on the batteries try switching them from how you have them in now. If it takes a rechargeable battery try matching up the contacts with the contact leads in the battery housing or perhaps you have put the battery in upside down.

Or maybe the new batteries aren't new and you need to find some others to try.

How do i turn OFF the flash on my kodak C643? I press the flash button on top, but, flash still goes when I take a pic

You may have to press the flash button several times
there are several settings

Flash on, Flash on auto, anti red-eye and flash off.

Sooooooooo.

Press the button and watch the screen on the back, if theres no menu when you press once, look for a small icon, it should change each time you press the button. You want the one the looks like a lightning bolt with a slash across it.

Every time i go to take a picture it says prossing it does this 2 or 3 times then lets me take the picture but by then i have miss the good shot

I'm afraid that's a built in feature of this model.
I've heard rumors that it's due to the Color Science Image Processing Chip, the exclusive Kodak Color Science Chip but don't know if this is true.
It will also occur sometimes when you move quickly from photo to video mode.

Screen goes black when taking picture and picture is not taken.

I know this might be a silly question, but did you take the lens cap off?
If all seems OK I'm afraid the camera needs a repair.

How to transfer pictures from Kodak EasyShare Z1285 to computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.
