Is the check engine light on? you could have a bad ignition fail sensor, TPS sensor, or bad o2 sensor. it could also be a bad mass air flow sensor or a vacuum leak. without a code to help pin point the problem I'd start by checking those things first. Maybe try unplugging the mass airflow sensor and start it up and see if anything changes.
Hi Mervyn, The easiest way of replacing the fuel filter is to disconnect the intake and outlets pipes and remove the retaining nuts from the housing. Remove the unit from the vehicle and hold the pump housing not too tightly in a vice and unscrew the old filter and the sediment sender unit from its base. Screw in the sediment unit and fill the filter with clean fuel. Dip your finger into the fuel and wipe a smear around the rubber seal and the holding the housing upright, screw it together, refit to the vehicle and prime by pushing on the plunger until the action becomes hard. Start the engine and if required, bleed each injector by opening the 17 mm joint onto each injector until fuel is released during idle. Retighten each after about five seconds and any misfire due to air should be dispelled and once all have been bled idle should be smooth. Regards John
yes try getting the fuel pump pressure tested by a mechanic. the other thing it can be is the injectors are plugged try running some lucas fuel system cleaner.
I had to replace the mass air flow sensor. $ 150. the engine would shut off when driving too.changed fuel filter only worked for a day. The sensor is just after air filter.
The primary pump is defective, it has a check valve that is bad so replace the pump it costs $0.00 compared tothe pressure pump thats $900.00 and it will be damaged if let run dry.
If you have a check engine light on, than it is likely a sensor that needs to be replaced. If filter has been changed, you may have weak fuel pressure, or a bad sensor. A leaky fuel injector will also cause this
