Yes I too have this problem, but I corrected it.

If you tighten the screws. it will work.

I have had this copier apart a few times. I must have3 not tighened the screws enough. it only took two days to figure this out. must not have been tight enough and head could not seat right.

There is a small plastic knob to lock and unlock the glass piece. I tightened it and it fixed the problem.

good luck

There is a big gap on the left-hand side of the printer, where printed pages come out. If you stick your head down and look at the "roof" of the gap, you'll see a clear knob that locks the scanning head for transport. Turn the knob towards the front of the printer and it should clear this error code. (Source: Sharp AL-1651CS Service Manual.)

Yep AL 1651ch had an error L100 every time it was turned on and warmed the lamp. The head did jog a little and the cable was secure not binding and the transport lock was released. Weird all the shops said it can not be repaired. So did sharp and did say it was to old of a machine even though it was purchased 2 years ago and still in warranty. The just did not deal well.
I made sure the machine was unpluged, I removed the four scews at the 4 corners of the glass top and removed it exposing the scan had. I moved the scan head by hand, at first it felt tight on the tracks. Moving it down half way I took a small piece of paper and folded it so it would stand on end a half inch high and placed it in the way that the head motion sensor would see it. I powered it up and it was moving back to its start position and found the paper, jugged and then lamp off and error light again. That told me the motor was working the sensor was sensing and the drive mechanism was OK. It had to be a false sensor error. I reinstalled all the toner parts and cleaned the electrical contact adjasent to the drum front door. I gave up and put it back together tightening the screw. I turned it on again to give it a last go as it was cycling I continued to press the number pad and the scan buttonn to see it it can be confused. They only made a continued beeping sound each time I pressed a button quickly. I do not know what I did but the combination of things I did made it work to everyone's supprise.
I hope this will help because I believe that these companies need a good flushing and put in people that care to keep the customer and not give them a run around. We should go USA products but the Trade agreements are not in our total favor in this catagory

I have tried this in the past when that knob must have gotten bumped and it did work! However, I turned it to no avail this time. Thanks though. I'm afraid it must be something more serious.
