Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You need to check the horizontal and vertical output wave form at the high side of the deflection which should be a normal horizontal/vertical pulse respectively. Now check the HV output transistor on all three elements and also check the regulator transistor which might have short. Replace the parts/diodes which are gone bad and can be easily replaced. You can order these from the following link --

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Flashing light and no power

Yes they could definately cause a shutdown, thats a classic symptom for many rear projection TV models if the ICs simply fail the set will work but the alignment is out of control, and if the ICs short the set will shutdown into protective mode. On your model the ICs are mounted on the sub board so its better to just desolder the two ICs completely then try powering up the set with all wire connectors plugged in. If the set powers up with distorted convergence you will know the ICs are Bad. If it doesnt power up then the problem is elsewhere and you may need to replace the sub board.

Horizontal Output transistor

IGBTs do not work well at high frequencies. They are not very linear, either. Even if it works, you'll likely wind up with a compressed and distorted picture.

Just put in an equivalent output transistor and call it a day.

Peace.

Horizontal output transistor failure

check b+ comming from p/s. also check for blue flat caps in line with h-output circuit. if blown out the side. remove them from circuit. also might have a HVT goin bad. I believe this is also the model that might have a mod for h-out running too hott that requires adding a resister in the h-drive circuit. also try a heavier duty h-output.

TV - worth fixing or pitch?

Horizontal output and regulator transistor often short out on this model causing a dead condition. Also the resistor right next to the regulators goes open as well. Electronix.com has a sony repair kit to fix the power supply. You just have to check the numbers on your Horizontal output transistor to make sure you get the right kit for your model.

56" RCA projection TV

If you can find the horizontal output transistor which is located near the flyback transformer, one lead of this drive transformer is connected to the base lead. (horizontal output transistor). There may be a little coil in series with this lead going to the transistor.
