Windows Vista to a Wireless DI-624 problems

I have a Toshiba Sat. lap top with Windows Vista Home Premium That can see the router but can't connect to the internet and so far there is no firmware updates for the router and everything I have seen is because of the new versions of Internet protocols with Vista not be compatible with the router I have found some suggestions for work arounds but they haven't worked. Has anybody have any other work arounds?

I am having the same problem. I can connect to my network but not the internet. I have tried several things I have found on the internet to no avail. All my other computers and laptops connect to the internet fine so I know it has something to do with Vista. I am not running Vista on anything except the laptop that will not connect.

I have the same problem but have a possible fix.

I have a Lenovo / IBM Thinkpad with VISTA. My router is a D-Link DI-624 and does not support VISTA wirelessly with the current firmware. However I can print via the CAT 5 cable through the router.
Must be that different firmware routines are used for cable commands from the Lenovo Thinkpad than for decoding wireless transmissions to the router. I will check the D-Link site for a firmware download that will support VISTA on the DI-624.

    Apologies.

D-Link's router, DI-624 must have the 108G FW. I must have incompatible settings with the router on the laptop.

I have a Dell w/ Vista home, and it doesn't see the DI-624 either. Really not a fan of Vista!

I have the same problem! Have the DI-624....just got a new Dell Inspiron 1545 with Vista. All my other XP Dells (all desktops) connect fine. The laptop sees the network...connects to the network....but not the Internet! Very annoying!!!

I have a D-Link Di-624 router and a Dell XPS laptop that runs Vista. Whenever I try to connect the laptop to my network, it says that I have little to no connectivity and does not let me connect to the internet.
Is there any way that I can get my laptop to connect or am I doing something wrong?

It could be a wireless security problem. If your router has a wireless security enabled then its security mode and key needs to be configured on the laptop.

What's the brand/model number of your router? Have you tried connecting the Toshiba Satellite laptop to a different wireless network? Have you already tested a different Vista laptop to connect to your wireless router?

I have a Toshiba Satellite connected to a Di-624m and I have the same problem.

One solution to many problems with D-Link is to ;

UNPLUG BOTH MODEM AND D-LINK.

WAIT 20 SECONDS (TWENTY SECONDS)

PLUG BACK IN AND TRY TO CONNECT.

DO NOT JUST SHUT THE POWER OFF, IT IS NOT THE SAME!

IF YOU DONT UNPLUG LONG ENOUGH IT WILL NOT WORK.

RECCOMENDATIONS:
CONNECT DIRECT WITH A LAN CABLE TO D-LINK

EVEN BETTER
CONNECT TO YOUR MODEM WITH A LAN OR USB-VERY FAST.

REPLACE THE D-LINK HUB! (LESS THAN A $100 !?!?!?)

WARNINGS-

OUR D-LINK ROUTER HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS FOR THE PAST YEAR ON OUR NETWORK, SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS WE BLAMED ON VISTA.

This wireless enviroment can corrupt downloads.
I went crazy trying to solve several download errors.
connecting direct to the hub with a lan cable solved the problem.

I have totally lost faith in this wireless system.
sorry D-link the di-264m is HISTORY soon.!

Unable to connect to the internet at times.

Problem #1:
Please give more details about your setup -
  • What kind of router are you using (make. model, version)?
  • Do you have a wired or wireless connection from your computer to your router?
  • By "resetting" do you mean to "repair" the connection via the taskbar?
Problem#2:

This is apparently a well-known bug in Vista, but nothing to worry about. Take a look at the information from Microsoft.

Please give more details regarding problem #1 and I'm happy to see if I can be of any help.

So you have a DSL modem connected to a router connected to a wireless router connected to both your computers? Sounds like you need to just get a wireless modem and throw all the routers away.

Change channel router netgear for windows vista laptop for

It is hard to say without the netgear model and version, yet the concept is the same, open your web browser, type the ip address of the netgear in the address bar (you will need a password), then look for a menu regarding wireless or wlan or advance wireless configuration, and there you will see an option about channel selecction, just change it to match your laptop channel.

good luck.

WiFi unable to connect/maintain connection

Hello b... couple things.

First; see if going into Control PanelNetwork Connections and disabling the wireless network connection, then enabling it again fixes it. If it does then you have a work-around...

Second; there was a Realtek driver update offered by Windows Update. If that has
been installed (Control Panel-Programs and Features-View Installed Updates)
roll it back to the previous driver through Device manager and get the
update direct from either Toshiba or Realtek.

See if that helps.

This seems to be happening with that Wireless card and Vista... let me know what happens please.

I need to configure my d-link for wow downloader

To configure D-Link DI-624 Wi-Fi access point to work with BitTorrent you have several options. One of them is to use trigger ports.
Steps to follow:
  1. Open web control panel of D-Link DI-624 by connecting to http://192.168.0.1 (this is default direction, which can be changed by administrator).
  2. Enter login and password for administrator. Default login for administrator is admin.
  3. Go to Advanced, select Applications.
  4. In Applications screen:
    1. Check Enabled.
    2. Fill BitTorrent in Name.
    3. In Trigger Port put 6881 and 6999.
    4. In Trigger Type select TCP.
    5. In Public Port put 6881-6999.
    6. In Public Type select TCP.
    7. Press Apply.
  5. The DI-624 will reboot.
Now you can use BitTorrent from any computer on both LAN and WLAN local networks in automatic way.
BitTornado Setup If you use latest experimental BitTornado client you can give a good use toUniversal Plug and Play (UPnP). You just need to enable UPnP on D-Link DI-624 and BitTornado will work on any computer in your local network without any requiered intervention from your part.
In BitTornado:
  1. Run BitTornado
  2. Click on Prefs
  3. Locate UPnP Port Forwarding and select type1 (fast)
In DI-624:
  1. Log in as administrator
  2. Open Tools (main menu)
  3. Select Misc. on the left
  4. Locate UPNP Settings and select Enabled

Laptop cannot connect to router with WPA-PSK security

What I believe here is you are not typing in the pass-phrase(wireless password) correctly.

Go to 192.168.1.1 log on to the router ,in wireless section you will find the pass phrase,, create a new one and then try to connect.

Try to setup home wireless network to share two home computer

Connect the home wireless network router box to the main PC through an ethernet cable with the PC powered off and the home wireless router powered off, then power on the PC & the router. Vista should locate the new wireless network and follow the windows vista network setup procedures. After the wireless network has been detected you then while the second PC's power is shut off you connect dongle adapter to the PC power on and XP will locate the new adapter. You will probably have to enter your networks pin for the connection.
Get back to me when you complete these steps.
