Question about Breville CBL10 BlendMaster Classic Work Top Blender

2 Answers

Received the Breville Ikon 600 blender as a Christmas present in 2006 and have used it 3 times, with the third time being this past weekend. The product is now out of warranty and low and behold, it stopped working as I was trying to use it. I started blending and within one to two seconds, it just stopped and will not turn on. The LCD panel will not light up and none of the buttons work! Is there any kind of troubleshooting that I can do to solve the problem? This blender was recommended as the BEST and it was quite expensive. I am extremely disappointed with the short life that I got from this blender!

exactly the same problem...1 month out of warranty.

I have receipt. I expect a blender that cost $229 would be of better quality.

Yep same thing happens. When I try to blend it turns off after a second or two. Not impressed Breville. This was supposed to be your top of the range blender. If there is a reset button on the base, well I can't seem to find it. Looks like i'm going to have to get it repaired as it's also out of warranty. It's as they have almost planned it.

Same thing... what the heck do i do...?

Same thing happened to me this morning. I've only had this blender for two months so it should still be under warranty I think...

I also have the same problem, just past warranty, sometimes works but then other times turns itself off after 2 seconds, even tried it with just water and same thing. Can't find any reset button.

My IKON 600 Blender fuse had blown. It was located on the circuit board and can be found by removing the bottom of the blender. Fuse is Fast Blow 10A, metric 5mmx20mm. The fuse blew because the bearing in the bse of the jar froze. Bearing # 608-RS. The beraring froze because the seal in the base of the jar was leaking. Solution: Clean seak surfaces, replace bearing and fuse. Total cost of $6 with my labor.

The fuse button of the blender may have been triggered, try look at the bottom of the blender to see if there there is a hidden button like "reset" and press it, then connect the blender to the electric outlet again...

I have a breville kinetic blender - not used for a while. Gives a nasty burning smell when used. Anything I can do?

Unless it is food stuck around the blender bottom , you have parts burning up inside. Its not safe to use. Check to make sure it is clean top an bottom if smell returns stop using. Could burn house down.

My breville blender model#bbl600xl leaks every time I put liquid in it, the gasket is in place and it is tightened as much as possible, what is the problem.

It leaks if you over tighten it. So try to just do it finger tight. I was having the same problem, once I eased off on the tighten if stop leaking. I assume you are getting it correctly aligned as that can be the other issue.

Breville blender won't turn on. The on light is flashing red instead of solid blue. Worked fine a few days ago.

FIXED IT - It's the screws on the bottom of the jar assembly, where the blades are attached. There are 4 Torx screws - star-shaped - and when these come loose over time the Blender will start to operate only sometimes. Eventually it will be never.
Tighten these four screws and everything will be fine!

The power switch lights up ok, then if I try to use any speed or Pulse the blender runs for approx. 2-3 seconds, then the power cuts out. How can I dismantle the unit to check the problem.

I have the same problem. 4 of the screws underneath are star-shaped and you will need the appropriate screwdriver for it. I purchased a "set" with heaps to choose from. The other 6 or so are normal. Don't forget to remove the rubber feet and get to the screws under there, too.

Hope that helps! I've had mine apart 3 times trying to fix this problem. Hint: It's probably not the power cord - I tried that already. If you figure it out, let me know, because I'd love to fix mine!

Breville blender bbl550 stopps after 5 seconds any setting

Mine does this as well... 5 seconds of operation and then OFF.
My guess is this is a fail safe where the blender is turning itself off to avoid overheating and what could potentially cause this overheating is the blender is struggling to turn the blades. What could cause this struggling of turning the blades I am guessing is a lack of oil in the blades rotating parts.
If you hold the circular blade part and turn it, you'll probably find that its hard to turn? Mine is... and I oiled it up a bit and found I got a bit more usage out of it... although only temporarily.
Ideally I need to pull it apart and oil it properly.

First determine..if it is indeed the motor that is fried. Do this by not using the caraffe. Plug in the motor and run it by itself. If it runs fine without smoking again..It is the caraffe that is defective.
If its the motor you are out of luck completely. Jack Lalanne is out of business.
If it is the caraffe..which I suspect it is not...oil the rim of the bearing that is on the outside of your caraffe ..it surrounds the knurled part that is inserted into the blender...even if you are able to get the motor repaired..get in the habit of oiling the caraffe bearing after each time you use it. If you dont it will fail within months to a year of use
Lalanne had they made in China..and using unsealed bearinga that rust out and the contents of the blender come out!! So I discovere dthat oiling that part each time after use..keeps my blender running smoothly.
You might want to take yoru motor to a small appliance repairman..he might find something simple happened.. like a loose wire connection inside! If he does...you have a simple solution and a motor that works!
Remember to oil the bearing a couple drops each time after use...and if yoru caraffe ever fails you can buy a new one..( Oil that one too!) at Cooking Toys..you can google for the address
