The problem is that the phone was not designed for a sim card. this phone was released to run on what was called the CDMA network. this network is no longer in use in australia and most countries. most of are on digital or something simular
sorry but you will need a new phone. or a more recent one.
it all depends on the carrier you have, I know t mobile and cingular do have sim cards in them , remove the battery and usually you will find a slot for a sim card if it requires one.
Make sure you store all your phonebook contacts in the SIM card and your SMS messages too. Then exchange the SIM's and your actual line and number will be on the new phone.
There is no way to do such a thing. The i830 works off the iDEN network and is not compatible in any way with the GSM network used by Cingular. Sorry. Truth is, the i830 is junk, you're better off without it.
