You need to upgrade your computer memmory, check first if you have a higher capacity of your memmory. and if you have, go to the bios setting of your computer and checnge the settings of the video sharing. you can increase it up to 256mb shared memory. if you have a 1Gb or 2Gb capacity of your memory.

After increasing my vga memory my pc wont work why?

Several things I will have to assume. You have onboard graphics, possibly not enough memory, are attempting to watch high resolution videos, are using a desktop and are running Windows 7 and are watching videos from a DVD.
The fist thing to check is how much memory you have. Any less that 8MiB and your system will struggle. Also give the system a spring clean.
OnBoard graphics has many restrictions because it relies on available resources. To increase it's performance you should shut down every other app that is running, except essential like anti virus and sound of course. if you are capable you could set up a second user that has the minimum running and log onto that for video.
If you are an avid video watcher then an investment in a separate graphics card with its own memory would increase your enjoyment 1000%. The cost can vary so get the best your budget will allow. Even a low end card will make a difference.
The ins and outs on how to do all these things are beyond the scope of this site as it would require many pages and graphics.
As a summary you should.
1. Increase physical memory to 8GiB or more if you are running Vista or above.
2. Minimize resource sharing by closing non necessary apps (including email, browsers, instant messengers)
3. Upgrade to a separate graphics card
4. Download and run CCleaner. It is free and will clean out your system safely.
5. Reverse what you did in the BIOS settings
The other point is if you are watching downloaded videos make sure you choose a Standard Definition copy. eg MP4 or Divx
As far as your CD Drive is concerned it could be a number of things from a damage drive to lack of power source.

I incerased the ram from 128 to 256 but it still

Dude!

It seems that video card on the computer is consuming the rest of 64 MB memory.

Get into the CMOS of the computer and reduce the video card memory.

Hope, it helps.

"Call of Duty" runs in slow motion on my PC.

Hi thomas,

Upgrading video cards will definitely increase in performance. You asked whether you should upgrade your entire PC or just the card and that really depends on the hardware you are running. If all of your hardware just barely meets the requirements than upgrading the videocard WILL give you a noticeable improvement but obviously it will not be as good as getting a better CPU and more RAM as well as a new card.

A good measure of a cards performance is based on the series of cards it is from. Your Geforce is from the 6000 series of Nvidia cards, they have 7000, 8000, and even 9000 series cards atm.

I would recommend something like an XFX Geforce 9800 GTX+ series card with 512MB of onboard memory, or any other competing card in the 200$ price range. This will definitely give you an increase in performance, and is a very popular card.

Hope this helps and please take a second to rate!

I do not know which model of compaq deskpro I have, But I have used a couple ram cards from another compaq... it increased the ram but the video(from youtube for example) freezes... what can I do to fix it...

If you added more ram to the computer that is a slower speed, the memory will run at a lower speed overall. Even if one stick is faster, they will run at the speed of the slower memory. I would check that. Sometimes it slows your computer down to increase the ram if you decrease the speed.
If its the same speed, you can usually increase your video dedicated memory in the BIOS settings.
Good Luck!
