Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
I have a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop and the wireless does not work. I am suposed to have some sort of internal card, and my computer says that I am connected, but when I try to use the internet it says that it cannot be displayed. I also have a button to turn it off and on, and that does not work, either. I have been able to use the wireless in the past, about two years ago at home. Since I started college I decided not use my wireless and just connect to their network via a Cat 5 cable. Now that I would like to use my wireless again, it won't let me.
I don't know much about computers, but any help is appreciated! Thank you!
If you want to use the College wireless system, then you will have to conatct the administration and they will point you in the right direction.
Although the service is normally free for students, you need to have the IP, subnet and gateway assigned to the laptop to access the service. They may also request your Mac address from your laptop. This is just the unique identifier to help protect the network from outside users.
Even check with a few of the others you will see at lunch using theirs, they will be happy to point you in the right direction.
