How to change sylvania tv to video without remote

I was able to get the Sylvania TV to accept a different input (the remote was lost) by connecting the DVD to a Sony VCR using composite RCA jacks then connecting that to the TV. You'll need two 3-jack (yellow, white, red composite) cables - cheap at any store. Here;s how:
1. Connect RCA output jacks from the DVD to the input female receptacles of the VCR (first cable).2. Connect output jacks from VCR to the female input jacks on TV (second cable). 3. Turn on all equipment (VCR, DVD, TV)4. Switch the VCR to "Line 1" (for my Sony VCR, this shows up as "L1") by pressing the TV/VCR button on the VCR remote (which I did have).
Your system should now work.
The principle is to "fool" the TV into thinking that it's primary input is through the RCA composite A/V jacks rather than the cable connection. No need to disconnect the cable at any time. Any functioning VCR should work well as long as you have the remote for that device. Remember, connect output on the DVD to the input on the VCR, then the output on the VCR to the input jacks on the back of the TV. If you have the connectors on the TV, VCR, and DVD, component cables should work as easily. Remember, output from the DVD goes to the input of the VCR. Theoutput from the VCR (for which you DO have the remote) goes to the input side of the TV.
Good luck!

I have a Toshiba W528 VCR and am trying to hook up a Wii in the front panel Line 2 jacks. How do you switch the connnection to the Line 2 jacks without a remote?

With the up and down channel selector buttons. You will have to keep pressing either button till it shows AV (something IE 1 or 2 etc). Depending what it says on the front panel for the socket.
Recommend a universal remote if you can't get a new one.

Dear Technician, I have 4 components that I am trying to connect together, a Panasonic HDTV model #TC-L32X1, a GO Video DVD/VCR model #DV2130, a Yamaha stereo receiver model#RX-690, and a Scientific...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Unfortunately, size limitation of what could be attached prevents posting a connection diagram. Still, proposed connection scheme:
  • 4250HDC's HDMI to Panasonic's HDMI 1 or 2;
  • 4250HDC's VIDEO OUT to GoVideo's LINE IN 1 VIDEO;
  • 4250HDC's AUDIO OUT to 2 pcs of RCA Splitters (shown below);
  • 1 pair from the 2 splitters to GoVideo's LINE IN 1 R-AUDIO-L;
  • the other pair to Yamaha's LD/TV L & R;
  • GoVideo's LINE OUT VIDEO to Panasonic's VIDEO IN 1 VIDEO;
  • GoVideo's LINE OUT R-AUDIO-L to 2 more RCA Splitters;
  • 1 pair from the 2 splitters to Panasonic's VIDEO IN 1 L-AUDIO-R;
  • the other pair to Yamaha's VCR 1 IN L & R;
  • to watch cable TV in HD quality, set Panasonic to HDMI 1 or 2 by pressing Panasonic remote's INPUT button, then 3 (or 4), then OK;
  • to hear cable TV programs on Yamaha's speakers, set Yamaha to LD/TV;
  • to watch DVD or VHS, set Panasonic to Video 1 by pressing Panasonic remote's INPUT button, then 6, then OK;
  • to hear DVD or VHS on Yamaha's speakers, set Yamaha to VCR 1;
  • to record cable TV programs, press GoVideo remote's TV VIEW button a couple of times to cycle through the signal sources or until Line 1 is displayed.

The use of the splitter shown below would effectively double the AUDIO OUT of the cable box and the DVD/VCR combo to feed both the TV and the stereo. Additionally, this would allow use of the cable box and/or the DVD/VCR combo with or without the Yamaha.

Have cable tv and wanting to tape a certain channel

I would suggest that you disconnect the VCR from any signal source. UNPLUG the VCR from the power source [a/c] for at least one hour, more if possible. Before you are ready to plug the machine into a/c attach an antenna to the antenna INPUT, the VCR output goes to input of tv. [ DON'T attach cable box, or any such machine to the input of VCR.] Plug vcr into outlet and turn ON. Place TV-VCR switch on TV. [no remote control??] Change the channel MANUALLY, one channel at a time. If you see tv stations as you change the channel [KEEP changing until you have reached the " end of the line " of broadcast channels.] then you are good.Connecting the vcr to a cable box[ANY KIND!] you can only RECORD through the vcr what you watch on cable.

Daewoo DVN-14F6N

Same problem...Went to Goodwill Store, they usually have a large basket of remotes. I found a Daewoo remote for a TV only, HOWEVER on the bottom it has a AIR/CABLE button. The remote doesn't say Daewoo on it only..."Remote Controller R-25B03". The rest of the button of course work with the TV portion of the DVN-14F6N.

WHITE-WESTINGHOUSE TV/VCR COMBO NEED CODE

The code for the TV is 0623 but to use the TV/VCR button to change mode from line to TV the code is one of the following 0179, 0451, 0463, 0624 or 0278. The 0623 only activates the menu but doesn´t let you change Air/Cable mode without first changing the Line/TV mode by pressing the TV/VCR or Line input button on your universalk remote with one of the other codes.

How can I turn to AV without a remote control (Samsung TV/VCR 19in Combo)

I had this problem with my TV/VCR combo unit (Samsung CXC1972) after losing the remote while in the dorms. I tried a few different universal remotes and dozens of codes before I tried the Philips 3 device universal remote as pictured below with code 037 programmed into the VCR/DVD button. I can't change the volume with this code but the input key switches between line in and tv. You can also change the channel, access the menu and operate the VCR functions with the code. I bought the remote for less than $10 at Walmart so it might be worth a try, and if it doesn't work you can always bring it back. Hope this helps.98fe8a9.jpg
