Internet problems When i try to right click and paste something (even on "my computer") it will come up blank. It doesnt always do this. If i have too many windows open it will effect my toolbar. Itll show up black, won't let me search. I tried scanning my computer for viruses and spyware and nothing comes up. A couple times i did it in safe mode and it would find 2-3 viruses and get rid of them. I have trend micro, and it doesnt seem to find viruses.

May be related to how much memory you have in the pc? If it's related to the number of windows you have open.. on the other hand, the problem with any anti virus, is that if it's been compromised (infected) it will no longer do the job.. You cannot repair it or even re-install it in some cases because the virus will just re-infect it. You might have to remove the hard drive & clean it in a good working pc with antivirus already installed & up to date. Some anti virus sites offer to remote clean your pc over the net, but you lose control of who is doing what on your pc..
If you want more help, tell me how much memory you have & what operating system you use.. If it's XP, have you tried to fall back to a previous 'restore point'? To when the pc was known to work correctly?

Solution on a slow Internet connections Problem 
The major  causes for a slow Internet connections. A poor-performing connection can be caused by broadband router configuration issues, wireless interference, or any of several other technical issues with your home network. Follow these steps to diagnose slow Internet connections.
 1. Broadband Router Settings
As the centerpiece of a network, a broadband router can be responsible for slow Internet connections if configured improperly. For example, the MTU setting of your router will lead to performance issues if set too high or too low. Ensure your router's settings are all consistent with the manufacturer's and your Internet Service Provider (ISP) recommendations. Carefully record any changes you make to your router's configuration so that you can undo them later if necessary.
 2. Wireless Signal Interference
Wi-Fi and other types of wireless connections may perform poorly due to signal interference, which requires computers to continually resend messages to overcome signal issues. Household appliances and even your neighbors' wireless networks can interfere with your computers. To avoid slow Internet connections due to signal interference, reposition your router for better performance and change your Wi-Fi channel number.
 3. Internet Worms
An Internet worm is a malicious software program that spreads through computer networks. If any of your computers are infected by an Internet worm, they may begin spontaneously generating network traffic without your knowledge, causing your Internet connection to appear slow. Run antivirus software regularly to diagnose and remove these worms from your computers.
 4. Running Background Applications

Isolate where the problem is: it could be the LCD display or the graphics circuit on the main board. Connect the VGA output of the laptop to an external monitor - one that you know is good. From the function keys, activate the VGA output of the laptop - it's suppose to switch between the LCD display or to the external monitor. Switch it to the external monitor. If the external monitor works, then you have a problem with the LCD display of the laptop.

Create a Terminal Services Connection loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); To create a Terminal Services connection, follow these steps:
  1. Open Remote Desktop Connection.
  2. In the Computer box, type the computer name or the IP address of a terminal server or a computer that has Remote Desktop enabled.
    Note: To connect to the console session of the remote computer, type computername or IP address /console.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. In the Log On to Windows dialog box, type your user name, password, and domain (if necessary), and then click OK.

Save Connection Settings loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); You can save a connection as a Remote Desktop protocol (.rdp) file. An .rdp file contains all the information for a connection to a terminal server, including the Options settings that were configured when the file was saved. You can customize any number of .rdp files, including files for connecting to the same server with different settings. ati catalyst is for a graphics card.
it would not have issues.
the card may show as fine, or the drivers may. try the card in another pc. if it is built in try a new card. ethernet cards are just a few pounds.

You need to check your DSl line to your Internet Provider so they can properly setup the right configuration for your DSL connection so this problem wont happen again...

Wireless problem


Hello router_lost

I believe you are correct in your assessment that the issue is related to your router. Likely, that issue involves configuration - of your router and/or your laptop computer.

(01) Is the computer that is running Vista connecting to the Internet (via the router) using a wireless network adapter or a wired network adapter?

(02) Assuming that the Vista computer is connecting to the Internet wirelessly, please, tell us the manufacturer, model number and version of your router.

If the Vista computer is connecting "wired" and not "wirelessly" AND you have no other devices on your LAN (home network) that are successfully connecting to the Internet wirelessly through this router, then, it's possible that the router's radio is not enabled. However, if the laptop is "seeing" your router, then, of course, that isn't the case.

(03) Are you sure you are attempting to connect to the correct wireless router from your laptop?

I've seen it quite often where users will think they're connecting (or trying to connect) through their own router when, in fact, the router is a neighbor's (not their own).

(06) You can avoid this possibility by assigning an unique SSID to your wireless radio. In other words, change the SSID (wireless router's "name") to something other than the manufacturer's default SSID. (e.g. Netgear's default is "netgear" and Linksys's default SSID is "linksys", etc.)

It's best, for security purposes, not to assign a revealing SSID (e.g. "TheSmiths" or "2201YourStreetName", etc). Call it "BlueMoon" or whatever you like. Just something unique yet not revealing of your identity or location.

(07) Please, tell us the manufacturer, model number and revision of your router.

(08) Please, tell us the manufacturer, model number and serial number (or service tag) of your laptop computer.

(09) Please, tell us the operating system that is running on your laptop computer.

W/ this information, we'll be able to provide you with specific instructions for correcting your laptop's connectivity problem at home.

(10) Do you know if you have WEP or WPA encryption enabled on the router?

If you do, then you will need to enter either the router's wireless encryption "password phrase" or the hexadecimal key code password in order for the laptop to be allowed to access the Internet. You should only have to do this one time - then your computer will save the information.

If you've been connecting to free networks fine, then you've likely not been required to enter a password phrase or key in order to connect.

Please, post back here w/ answers to the questions I've asked here along with any other questions, comments, and observations you might have. We'll continue to work w/ you on this issue until it's resolved.
