To get your pin code, you have to get the card that came in with your device. Call the company or email them your serial number and they might give you the code.

You have to send it back to garmin to have it unlocked.
You will also need proof of purchase.

I bought this model froma lad in the tradeit it requires a password which idont have and i can no longer find the lad is there anything i can do to reset thesystem password

Basically, you've wasted your money on a useless and totally unusable unit, sorry.

You have Garmin Lock activated on your nuvi: there are only two ways you can unlock it.

1. Enter the PIN code (but you clearly don't have it or you wouldn't be reading this).

2. Take the unit to the Security Location chosen when Garmin Lock was first activated: it will then unlock without the PIN code and you can then either reset the PIN or disable Garmin Lock. The Security Location should not be the owner's home address, but many owners ignore this recommendation. Many owners choose their workplace or a close friend or relatives address for this purpose.

If neither option works then your unit is useless unless you send it to Garmin with proof of purchase. Garmin charge for the service and if your maps are not up to date then it's really a waste of money as the investment would be better spent on a new unit with current mapping.

You may read advice advising you to use a secret menu to erase all user data. This is done by starting with the nuvi switched off and then pressing and holding the bottom right corner of the screen and then, whilst still pressing the bottom corner, turning the unit on. Please note that although this erases all previous user data including maps, it does not bypass Garmin Lock. There is NO bypass for Garmin Lock except by taking the unit to the owner's security location; it would be a useless theft deterrent otherwise. The entire point of Garmin Lock is to make the unit worthless to thieves, and to those who steal the unit by finding it without handing it to the authorities. It's unfortunate that it also catches out unwitting and innocent buyers of previously-owned Garmins, but that's the lesser of two evils.

I hope that you manage to either fix your problem using my advice or at least can decide whether to abandon the unit and buy another.

I forgot my pin number and my device is locked

You would have to go with-in 50 meters of the Security Location you set up your unit....that could be your home or office.... you had to call Garmin to Register the unit, when you did it set that location as a security spot.

Once there it will automatically unlock for you, dont forget to enter new pin number before you leave that area.... if you dont know where it was at, you must send the unit back to Garmin with proper receipts.

FYI

Dont set your security location as your home, thiefs will know and change it so they could now have a working gps

There is a pincode on a garmin and how do I bypass this or break the code?

If you have a Garmin Lock on your nuvi, zumo orStreetPilot c500 series and you have forgotten your 4 digit PIN number you canunlock the device by returning to your Security Location. The Security Locationis the location that you set when you first enabled the Garmin Lock on yourdevice. Returning to the Security Location will unlock your device.(Approximately 150 feet from that location)

If you have forgotten your PIN and Security Location please contact ProductSupport for assistance. Please note Garmin will require a copy of the receiptand there will be a charge to unlock the device as this issue is not covered bythe warranty. So in summary 1)Remember your password. 2) Go to yoursecurity location 3) Pay for Garmin tounlock it for you.

I hav a garmin c550 and cant remember da pincode? help meplease to unlock it

Take the unit back to your security location which you sent when you first got the GPS. Without knowing the PIN or security location, you will not be able to unlock the unit. You will have to send it in to Garmin to be unlocked, and you will have to include your receipt from an authorized dealer.

HOW CAN I UNLOCK MY GPS ,IDONT REMEMBER MY PIN

Go to the home location where you originally set the pin. Make sure the antenna is up and turn the unit on.

When your at the home location where you set the pin, you won't be asked for the pin and you'll be able to change the pin to whatever you want.

Please be advised that if you can't remember the home location, you'll need to contact Garmin for a solution.

There are too many of these units being stolen from vehicles and the thieves are trying to obtain the passwords on this site.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!
