Question about Sony Handycam CCD-TRV318 Camcorder
Buy an a/v cable($15-30) and a dvd recorder($50-100).
Some dvd recorders allow you to change type of recording.
Then you can play, record or copy your dvd on the computer.
there are also free conversion programs you can download, to convert to different types of video.

I don't know this exact model, therefore this will be generic.
There should be an A/V output on your camera. You will require an A/V capture card and software installed on the computer. You will need the A/V cable set that is compatible to go between the computer and the camera.
If the camera has a fire-wire output which most all the new ones now have, you will need to install a fire-wire card and the necessary software on to the computer to read videos from your camera.
If your computer is too old, or too slow, or does not have adequate resources and RAM's, it will not be able to handle the video from your camera. Make sure your computer will be compliant before running out and buying the extra hardware and software to do this with your computer.
