I have a Sony receiver STR-DG510. I was playing music through the receiver when it suddenly stopped and displayed/flashed protect. After unplugging everything and trying a different power outlet it still flashed protect. Doing some research I found that this means there is a short somewhere in the circuitry. I opened the case and found that with one of the cords running to the digital board unplugged protect no longer flashed when the unit was turned on. However I could not get any audio to come out of the speakers or headphones. So my question is could the digital board be the root of my problem or is it more likely something bigger. The unplugged cord is CNP504/CNP505.

Most likley it is a bad channel. Needs output transistors and a couple of resistors. or it may need a pre-amp voltage ic.

Not a repair for your average do it yourselfer.

"Protect" Flashing

In all likelyhood, one or more output transistors have failed. Please confirm your model as STR-DE335 and I'll post the probable parts that need to be checked.
