Cant recieve emails

Who is your email provided by? AT&T? Yahoo? Hotmail? Gmail?

You need to go to www.google.com and in the search box type your provider and search for the settings that should go with outlook express. For example if my email is provided through Yahoo. I would type in the search box "yahoo mail and outlook express". You will see how to configure the PoP3 and SMTP for sending and receiving mail through outlook.

Before doing all that it just seems like your problem might be that you have the wrong password in the outlook setup for PoP3. Edit your settings in Outlook and make sure you have the correct password. I think you click tools or edit when you have outlook open to get to the email accounts and edit the settings. Do this first and you can test it to see if it is working.

Can't send email in outlook. please advise.

Can't send email in outlook
Outlook is an email client, much like outlook express or Windows Live mail.
TO work correctly the email client has the information already set up in to be able to contact the mail server (the computer with your email messages), and also authenticate you as a user (an email address and password).
In some cases you also need to configure the email servers (basically provide the server information directly to the system)
The newer version of Outlook can try to detect these settings, with decent success.

In order to make it work, open Outlook and click set up new email account.
Provide your name, email address, and password, servers, etc.

Since you didn't provide the name of the email provider (yahoo, msn, gmail, etc.) I will assume you know the specifics for it.
Also note that some free email accounts do not work well with Outlook. I know MSN and free yahoo mail accounts don't work very well.

I am tying to set up yahoo account on thunderbird. i can send email but not receive.. i have tried changing server settings and port settings

Much more common is a sending issue. Often you have to send through your ISP server, contact them for what that server is, if you have sending issues.

I found directions for Outlook, which should be similar to Thunderbird:

Look closely at requires authentication settings....

Note: You must be a Yahoo! Mail Plus user to read Yahoo! Mail in an email reader program such as Microsoft Outlook. Click here for information about subscribing to Yahoo! Mail Plus.
To read your Yahoo! Mail Plus using Microsoft Outlook 2002 or 2003, follow these steps:
  1. From the Tools menu, select Email Accounts.
  2. Select Add a new email account and click Next.
  3. Select POP3 and click Next.
  4. Enter the following information:
    • User Information

Your Name: Type your name as you'd like it to appear when you send an email message.

E-Mail Address: Type your Yahoo! Mail Plus email address (for example, [email protected]).
    • Server Information

Incoming mail server (POP3): Type plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com.

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Type plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
    • Login Information

User Name: Type your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").

      Password: Type your Yahoo! password.
    • Select the Remember Password checkbox if you don't want Outlook to prompt you for your password each time you check your mail.
    • Do not select the Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) checkbox.
  5. Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  6. Select the Outgoing Server tab:
    • Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
    • Make sure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
  7. Click the Advanced tab:
    • Under Incoming Server (POP3), select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox. The number in the Incoming Server (POP3) field usually changes automatically from 110 to 995. If it doesn't, type 995.
    • In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) field, type 465. Under Outgoing Server (SMTP), select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox.
    • If you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your computer, select the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox. If you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! server once Outlook has downloaded them onto your computer, leave the box unchecked.

Note: After your messages are deleted from the server, we cannot retrieve them.
  8. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  9. Click Finish to close the Add New E-mail Account dialog box.
  10. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.
Troubleshooting tips
If you still can't send Yahoo! Mail from Outlook, you might be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port. If this is the case, try using port 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change:
  1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings. The Account Settings dialog box appears.
  2. Select your Yahoo! Mail Plus account and click Properties. The Change E-mail Account dialog box appears.
  3. Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) box, type 587.
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  7. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.

Every time i access my yahoo mail the firefox.exe will pop up and there are 3 boxes that you need to click.....debug...sending error report....and ..don't send.what can i do.please help me.

In Firefox 3, by default, when user click on an email address or a URL link location that starts with mailto: protocol, the default email client, such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail will be opened to allow user to compose and send email to the specific recipient?s mail address. If you prefer to use web based Yahoo! Mail as your default email client, and want to let Yahoo! Mail handles all mailto: protocol, so that the automatic e-mail message composing and email sending will be done via Yahoo! webmail interface, Firefox 3 provides a very easy way to associate the mailto: link with Yahoo! mail web-based interface, in fact, it?s a built-in integration. Go to Tools -> Options. Click on Applications tab icon. Locate and click to highlight mailto Content Type, and at the corresponding drop down box of Action, select Use Yahoo! Mail. Click OK. After change, whenever a mailto: link is clicked, the email address will be sent to Yahoo! Mail account Compose web interface, with recipient automatically set at the clicked e-mail address. Of course, user has to enter user name and password credentials first if he or she hasn?t already logged in. Note: It?s also possible to set Gmail as the default mailto: handler at Firefox 3 best of luck Mel

Send emails from yahoo on outlook

Sometimes various ISPs (Internet Service Providers) block port 25, which is the default port used by email providers like Yahoo configured on outlook. There is an easy way to fix this, and I will provide some pictures to illustrate it. There might be some slight differences depending on the version of outlook and/or outlook express you are using, if so let me know and I will clarify as I can.

  1. From the "Tools" menu select "Accounts."
  2. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click "Properties".
  3. Click the "Advanced" tab. Under "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)," check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)." (This step is not required if you choose to use port 587).

  1. Enter port number 465 (recommended) or 587 in the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" field.
  2. Click "Apply," then "OK" and "Close."

I use Outlook Express for Emailing, i would like to change my present email address please can you help me to do this? Regards Clive.

Outlook Express is just a software which can send and recieve emails from any email account configured on it(Outlook Express). regardless of yahoo, gmail, comcast.net ,aol.com etc.

So if you want to change your email address and want to use it on outlook express, you need to first create an email account by going to the website on which you want to create an email address.

Once you have created the email address we can look for the POP/SMTP server settings of that particular email account on the internet .
Once we have those(POP/SMTP) addresses we can configure Outlook Express to send and recieve emails for your new email account.
