Dear Experts, I have got an old motherboard MSI KT3 Ultra MS-6380E Ver: 1.0 with an AMI BIOS A6380AVS V5.4 (release date24/05/2002). I had installed an XP sound driver for Raeltek '97 (ALC650)- offered especially for this motherboard. Everything seems to be order. Even the Windows Media Player seems to be good, as well. On the screen only! But the speaker doesn't sound. What is the problem? Thanks for advance: Janvari, Tamas from Hungary

Keepalive battery failed how do I get BIOS to work again

If the battery on the motherboard dies, the date and time might not be remembered, but the BIOS should at least have default settings.. Have you pressed the "Del" key during Startup to change BIOS settings? This is a copy of the manual for that mb..
Start on page 51 to see how to enter the BIOS and make changes. There are some explanations of different settings.

Can MSI MS-6380E support radeon x1800?

http://www.legendmicro.com/store/2940_MSI-MS-6380E-010-KT3-Ultra-Socket-A-Socket-462-for-AMD-Athlon-XPDuron-Processor.lmsp

1) Motherboard uses a Socket A processor socket. Also known as Socket 462.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_A

When they switched from the Athlon single-core processors, to the Athlon 64-bit dual-core processors, they went to a completely different processor socket.

AM2,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_AM2

So using the MSI MS-6380E motherboard with a dual core AMD processor = NO.

I don't seem to find an AMD Athlon 64 X2 1.8GigaHertz processor, except for a mobile version. One used for a laptop in otherwords,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113047

Uses a Socket S1 mobile processor socket,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_S1

List of AMD Athlon 64 microprocessors,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_amd_athlon_64_microprocessors

Pretend like I'm from Missouri, and Show Me.

Find the processor by it's AMD part number, and post the URL of the website in a Comment.

http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Venice-Single-Core-Processor/dp/B003RXLMCC

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
SINGLE-core processor, not X2.
(Socket 939 processor socket, too)

Show me the Processor, and then we can go on.

Need help on connecting up motherboard to rest of pc

I downloaded the PDF Motherboard Manual for the MSI MS-6380E Version 1.0, just now.

Let's take a look at that JFP1 header.
This view is looking at the JFP1 header, sitting at the bottom right of the motherboard, TO THE LEFT of the JFP2 header. The JFP2 header is at the very bottom right hand corner. The JFP1 header is just to the left of it. The processor is to the Top/Middle.

Looking at the pins going across the top of the JFP1 header, they are as follows,
2, 4, 6, 8, and there is no 10. There is no pin for 10.
Looking at the pins going across the bottom, they are as follows,
1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

Pins 6 & 8 are for the Power On switch.
Pins 2 & 4 are for the Power On light, (LED light)
Pins 1 & 3 are for the HarDDrive activity light.
Pins 5 & 7 are used for a Reset switch. (IF, you have one)

Should you not have the Motherboard Manual, go here,
http://motherboards.org/mobot/manuals/MSI/MS-6380E/
(If this doesn't come up as a link, copy and paste it into your address bar, then press the Enter key)
On this page click on ->Download <- to the right of
File: 6380ev1.0.exe Version: - - Release Date: - -

When you do a small window will come up. Click on the empty circle to the left of -> Save.
This file will be saved either directly to your deswktop screen, or your My Documents folder. I don't know how you have your downloads set up to be saved. I save them to my My Documents folder.

Once you see this file, double-click on it. It's a WinRar file. There will be a Microsoft 'Squawk Box' that comes up. "Warning this publisher could not be verified, ya-da, ya-da"

Ignore it! Click on -> Run
Now the WinRAR extraction archive will come up.
Click on Run.

Now go to the PDF file and double-click on it.
There's your Motherboard Manual.
