Ipod video 5th gen

I installed a new video screen in my Ipod and after I put everything back together and tried to turn it on, all I got was a blank screen.I tried to connect it to I-tunes but it does not recognise that there is an ipod connected and now it wont turn on at all,I did try charging it for about 4 hrs
but no luck.Any suggestions that I could try, maybe re-booting it or something.

I've got a 5th gen iPod that has suddenly stopped being able to recharge. I charged it the yesterday and when i came in to work today the battery had been drained. It's possible that I left it on shuffle...

contact apple and see what they say. if they cant fix it or something, then look for instructions on how to change the battery. if you dont wanna do that, then get a new one, but recycle that one first so you can get some money to pay for the second one

I cant get my apple ipod to get itunes on it its not recognized it its a5th genaraition i have tried everything what do i do take it back to shop

I've had my 5th gen video do the same thing at one time and if you hold down the menu button and the center button at the same time, it will reset your ipod. Once the screen goes blank, release both buttons, and then hold down the center button and the play/pause button as this will enter it into data transfer mode. Once in data transfer mode you can plug the ipod into your computer and it should recognize your ipod.

Model A1136 - What generation is this please.

It's an iPod Classic, 5th gen. Another way to tell gen:

4th gen = no video support

5th gen = video support, U2 on the box, no search function under music menu

5.5 gen = video support, longer battery, "search" under music menu, Johnny Depp/Red Hot Chili Peppers on the box, brighter screen

Replaced lcd get white screen

If you bought the new 'super bright' lcd for ipods then this is the problem. The new 'super bright' lcds for sale on ebay are only for 6th gen ipods. Buy a 5th gen lcd and all problems will be solved.

Replacing the battery in an Ipod

Yes, you can disassemble a 5th gen and replace your battery, HD, screen, just about any part you wish. What you will need is an "iTool" You can google it or try here Ipodbatterydepot
Or, if you're feeling adventurous you can use some small tools and watch the video - How to disassemble your 5th gen iPod

Once you start dis assembly of the unit you will see almost all of it(besides 6 small screws under the hard drive) un-snaps and snaps back into place again. Hopefully someone will find the vid and info as helpful as I did.

Ipod video 5th gen issue with downloading music

You should try using a different USB cable as it's very possible the cable is damaged. If that's not the problem, the logic board is probably defective and you can either replace it if you're comfortable enough opening your iPod or sell the iPod listing the defects on eBay.
