You cannot fix this yourself. It is a problem in the signal path of the missing colour channel. The fault can be in the main processing, or along the video signal path, or in the actual panel. The signal processing is in digital. To track the signal processing path, would require the in depth design information, extensive instrumentation compared to what the standard service shop would have, and the data protocol information.

This type of set is serviced with module swapping. There is very little supported component level servicing on these sets. They use high density surface mount technology with multi layered circuit boards.

You will have to send the set out for factory level service.

Principle of lcd

Liquid Crystal Display - LCD
There is a Flo recent light that shines behind the screen. This light is what passes through the window or LCD when the shades are open or partly opened.
Think of each colored individual LCD (pixel) as a Window Shade. You have pixels that are made up of 1-red, 1- green and 1-blue light shade.
Your main control board will tell each light shade how much/far to open each colored light shade so it will make the color it needs to.
If the shades are closed (black) if the shades are all open (white)
Hope this helps.

46 toshiba plasma has red tint in back ground

If you can see the red tint with every input source and also in the On-Screen Menu, then this indicates that the Green phosphor is burning off of the screen faster than the Red and Blue. This is typical of plasma screens. Even if you dont watch a lot of golf or football, green is the most dominent color and burns out of the phosphur pits(pixels) faster than the Red and Blue. Take away green, you are left with Reddish looking screen and Pink whites. This is not repairable.
If the Menu looks nice and white, check your source cables.
Good luck

Samsung LE26R7 4BD, approx 4 years old, colour distortions

Check all of your cables on the back of the tv and your sources such as Cable,Sat box and DVD palyer to make sure they are fully inserted into the input and output connectors. Some times Component cables will work loose and you end up with a missing color. Temprature changes can affect intermittant connections. If that does work then you have a bad Main bd.

If the problem is not the connections, try adjusting the tint on your television. A high tint setting will usually create a green
image on the screen where as a low tint will create a more red hue. In order to access your television's tint:
1. Press the “MENU” button on your remote control and use the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys and select the
VIDEO menu.
2. Then use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to highlight PICTURE SETTINGS and press the "ENTER" button on
your remote.
3. Next use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to highlight TINT then use the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys to adjust the
TINT. If the picture is too green the tint will need to be lowered.
4. Once you have adjusted the tint to your liking, use the DOWN arrow key to highlight DONE and press ENTER. The toshiba customer service telephone number is : 1-800-631-3811. I hope this helps you with your problem.
