Need security code for new laptop

The network security key is set by the user when the home network is setup. It prevents people from stealing your wireless signal. If you have forgot it, or didn't set it up but it still is asking for one, you can unplug and hit the reset button on your router and delete the home network you have on your main computer. From there, just run the network setup wizard from the main pc and set your network security key to something you can remember as well as write it down. Then you should be set to add any other pc to your home network as long as when you try to connect, you put the correct key in.

Connect using an Ethernet cable first of all. Once all set up, THEN go wireless using security code password for wireless.

Do the same for each new computer. Ethernet direct connection first, then wireless once you KNOW it's working.

I assume you are connecting thru wireless or wifi. If its asking for the security code then you have to know the security password for the SSID on that wifi router. Many Wifi routers have security passwords before you can access the internet. If you are connecting to your wireless router then just disbale the security password but will be disadvantageous because other people can connect to your router. Just ask the person for the password who initially setup your wireless router.

Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then Click on wireless-

If you have forgotten your wireless security password then you need to add new password because it is saved in * and # format so you need to add new code.
You need to configure your router.

If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.

Click on wireless settings enable wireless then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It isyour password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.

When filling in the security code, it is usually asking for a WEP key. This is usually found on the back of the router itself. They usually have a 10 character alpha-numeric code. If your computer is asking for 12 digits, enter two zeros infront of the code listed on the back of the router and try it again.

Right-click the network connection and click REPAIR, see if that resolves.
If you are getting a Valid IP address (192.168.x.x) then that should help. If you are getting a (169.254.x.x) APIPA address, then you are not getting network connectivity. That may involve the Wireless Security Key, or the security protocol (If using WPA the card in a 1100 may not support that protocol)
