How to repair memory ? means that how to test the memory chipsets ? how to sholdering & removing them ?

if you shut it down open the case you wil see 1 or 2 memory cards standing up in sockets off of the motherboard.
there is a white clip on either side of the memory card you pull them back away from the memory card and that corner pops up do same for the other side after you get 1 out you can try booting up to see if it boots up if it does chances are that memory stick is good.
then pull that 1 out and try the first 1 you took out to see if it boots up on that stick if it does not boot then memory is bad.
if it is bad you will need to buy another stick of ram if memory serves me you can get a set of 2 matching cards for around $35 dollars.
If you have vista on it you can run mem test goto start then in the search box type in memory and click on Memory Diagnostic Tool and it will ask to run mem test now or the next time you start computer up.

I have a packard bell computer - Imedia 1328, and have purchased a memory mod. 512MB DDR PC3200. How do I install it. IN easy step by step instructions for a silver surfer, please.

assuming you bought the right memory chip...

power down the computer. Unplug the power cord from the case. You can leave the other cables attached as long as you have room to work. Open the case. There should be a couple of Phillips screws on the back edge to release the side panel. Once you can see inside the pc, you will see all sorts of cards and cables. Blow out any dust bunnies. Find the empty slot next to a card that looks just like the one you bought. Don't touch the metal contacts on the memory chip. Notice the notch on the edge of the chip and the matching notch in the empty slot on the computer. Gently, but firmly push the memory chip into the slot. It should give a little click.

Plug in the power cord, reboot computer.
