It's not the disks its the the optical drive. Have you tried cleaning the lens with a DVD cleaning kit? Parts would cost more than the unit is worth to fix it.

Dell e5520 freezing

Possibilities:
1. Dying power-supply is creating unstable voltages
2. Dying capacitors on motherboard are unable to stabilize voltages
3. bad RAM (compare to writing in pen on greasy paper -- nothing is realiably being recorded)
4. bad spots on disk-drive (computer is spending too much time trying to write to those "bad" spots)
5. other "dying" issues with the motherboard

Try:
1. different power supply
2. if you have more than one stick of RAM, remove one and test-drive. Repeat with the other stick(s).
3. Try different RAM.
4. Force CHKDSK ("Check Disk") utility to scan *all* of the disk-drive.
5 Inspect the motherboard for bulging/leaking capacitors.
6. Replace the motherboard.
7. Replace the whole computer.

Acer Aspire 5732Z won't turn on - the light comes on for a few seconds and then turns off - whilst the light is on the disk drive will open - the screen doesn't show anything

Could be bad ram, hard drive or possibly a bad display panel or video card.Try using different ram and removing the hard drive then try it.Also, connect it to an external display and see if it shows video or not.If after trying these things it still isn't showing let me know and i'll try to help more.

Computer freezes frequently and has to be shut down. Then there is trouble booting back up, sometimes have to shut down and turn back on multiple times before getting windows screen. have tried...

Probably a hardware problem, e.g., "flaky" motherboard, or "bad" RAM, or a "dying" hard-drive.

Consider temporarily swapping-in a different disk-drive, and install Windows onto it,
to see if changing the disk-drive cures the problem.

Or, search online for 'MEMTEST86+', download the 'ISO' file, and burn the ISO file to a create a bootable CD-R disk. Boot from the disk, to run the RAM-checker.

Computer freezes when it is scanning for check disk

Hard drive is starting to have bad sectors on them which is why the hard drive is freezing and can't go thru the scandisk properly. Try a different known hard drive.

Not readable.

If the disks do not work on any of the three players they are probably faulty, try buying a spare disk of same kind , or writing a disk from a different pack, it it does work then you bought a box of faulty DVDs, ask a refund.
If disk from different box gives same problem when burned on same computer, then there may be a problem with DVD burning software, try doing a system restore to a recent date,
