Try disconnecting everything from the back of the system and unplugging it form the wall for a couple of minutes. Plug it back in and try poering it on. You may google search "diagnostics boot" or "error boot" with you model number and see what comes up. There is a fuce inside you could check, usually to the back right on Yamaha receivers. This doesn't sound likely due to your subwoofer sound though....maybe.
I bought about 70 receivers that were last years models from Yamaha, Denon, Sony Bravia, etc. Most worked but some required fixing. Some where easy as fuses, blown capacitors (visually), then some are still in my storage LOL. I hope this helps. By the wy, you can always purchase a repair/diagnostics manual that repair shops use with diagrams and trouble shooting tips for your particular model.
