Question about PC Desktops

I have an acer 4050 Travelmate, it has just suddenly stopped charging the battery. The machine works with the battery out and on 240v. If you put the battery in and on 240v it wont turn on. The battery has been working fine and has had good life between charges. Can anyone help, could it be setings or is it battery

Thanks for that, It sounds to me that the lap top has been programmed to break down. I have someone who can check in to this. The problem did start after I accidently removed the battery by catching my finger on the release clip, although the battery did not come all the way out. Thank you very much for your help. Some one else said about trying to recalibrate or reset/Flash the BIOS?

I don't fancy doing that. I suspect now that a new battery will still not work.

Sounds like the battery and how the system is wired (circuits)
Some systems require the voltage reg chips to run through the battery before turning system on. When the battery fails, the system will not boot, the dead battery interrupts the circuitry.
Once the Battery is removed the open circuit then is allowed to go to a new path.

Try this. boot up system and go into set up utility. plug in the battery, if it shuts down, get new battery. If it accepts it, save settings and reboot into OS.

Check the pins both on the battery and on the motherboard

My laptop (acer travelmate 5720G)is way too noisy and the fan never stops, i am sure the time has come for it to be over one year could i do it myself and what do i need?thanx

To clean the fan you need to use a small battery powered hoover.

If you use a big hoover, that will work , but there is always the risk to damage the motherboard.

Sometimes hoovering is not enough, because dust had penetrated deeply inside the fan bearing, mixing up with grease and causing the noise. In that case you replace the fan.

Battery will not recharge for travelmate 533XC. Are there some settings to restart the charging process?

I guess not. You will have to replace it. Mine last about 2 years, before it stopped recharging completely.

Hoe do I restart my Acer Travelmate that has gone into Hibernation mode due to a low battery?

Normally just press the power button, if that does not do it remove the battery and then put it back in and try to restart.

I cannot switch on my Acer travelmate 283XC. The battery went flat and I have now plugged it in the wall but when I press the power button nothing happens...

Try this; Disconnect from the AC outlet rmove the dc plug from the jack. Remove the Battery and wait for 5 mins and plug in the AC? DC adaptor without the battery. If the Laptop runs, then wait for the Windows to totally boot up and while running try to put back the battery and observe if it still charges. If not then try to replace the battery with a new one.

hope this helps.

Battery Problems

We are talking about the battery right? So here is what you can try. You only have to "Hit" your battery on a flat surface. The amount of impact you enorfce on it is up to you. The idea of "hammering" the battery like this is simple: It re-alligns the cell structure inside the battery; has something to do with the charge alignment in the battery.

So take the battery in your hand, and "hit" it on a table or any flat surface (make sure you dont break it). Speed and force similiar when there's a fly on the table and you want to take it "down" with your hand. Hit it 3 to four times. Then Put the battery into the LT again, with AC power and charge.

when the charging is done, disable all your power saving options so that your LT would run without going into hibernation, sleep mode, or power saving mode; Disconnect the AC and let it Run until its "Dead", that means the battery is drained totally. Now close your Laptop, hook up the AC again and let it charge approx. 6-20 hrs depedning on your battery standard charging rates.

After this, your battery SHOULD work fine again. If not, the battery was just faulty meaning it needs a replacement.
