Question about PC Desktops

I am trying to play sound from my laptop via the USB cable that comes with my new JBL Radial speakers. The ipod is detected by the laptop so the USB cable works but still no sound from my laptop? My laptop runs vista, please help

    • 1 Make sure that your computer and speakers are plugged in, have power and are turned on. If the speakers are plugged in but don't appear to have any power, plug them into a different outlet. Some speakers are self powered and use a USB cable to supply power. Make sure that the USB cable of your speakers is connected securely to the USB port of your computer.

My speakers are not working


Step 1
If no sound is coming from the computer, start troubleshooting your problem. Make sure both your computer and speakers are plugged in, have power, and are turned on. If the speakers are plugged in but do not appear to have any power, plug them into a different outlet. If you are using a power strip and this is case, replace the power strip. Some speakers are self powered and use a USB cable to supply power. Make sure that the USB cable of your speakers is connected securely to the USB port of your computer.

Step 2
Once you have verified that you have power to your speakers, test the sound again. If you still do not have any sound, make sure the cable connecting the speakers to the computer (known as a 1/8" TRS cable) is plugged into the green audio output jack on the PC.

Step 3
Before we move to software, let's try two more hardware fixes. If you are using self-powered USB speakers, remove the USB cable and plug it into a different USB port. If you are using outlet powered speakers and have a working set handy, replace the non-working speakers with the working pair to test. If you still have nothing, let's move on to software. But one tip first: (for geeks and beginners)

Step 4
As it is with any troubleshooting process, the issue can sometimes come down to the hardware itself. If you have an add-on sound card and none of the hardware or software fixes helps, you may have to replace the sound card. If you use on-board sound, it will probably pay to purchase an inexpensive sound card rather than a new motherboard. If you've been messing around in the BIOS, you may have disabled your on-board sound if that's what you're using. If you don't know what BIOS means, you probably haven't been there and can move on.

Step 5
Go to your desktop. Click Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Volume tab. If everything is grayed out, go to step 8. If the "Mute" box is checked, un-check it. In "Device Volume" make sure that your volume level is set to a comfortable volume level for your speakers.

Step 6
Click the "Sounds" tab. Under "Sound Scheme" check to see if "No Sounds" is selected. If it is, click "Sound Schemes" and a drop down list will appear. Select "Windows Default" as the scheme. Simply left click the sound once, then click the play button. If you hear sound, congratulations. If not, move on.

As an alternative u can do this (i am using this solution till date)

If u cant install the sound driver correctly, just buy a " USB Sound Adaptor" and connect it to the USB port and connect the speaker sound jack to the sound port in this adaptor....u will get back the sound....also keep in mind that u " may " have to disable onboard sound in BIOS, u may also have to make changes in the Control Panel / Sound and Audio Devices / Audio Tab / Sound Playback option... Click the drop down button and select the "USB Audio Devices/Headset"

You can get it in Ebay for $1 to $4 or google it to locate a place near u......

This is the one i am refering to(I bought it in Ebay for 1$)....u can buy something similar also....there are many available mfd from China, just plug and play on your USB port....

I only attached an ice cold usb cable to the usb port of the Acer Aspire RC900, the PC stopped immediately; even the ON light does not come on; I am told the motherboard has been damaged, anything I can...


Hi bud , It seems your Motherboard has been blown , When this happens . You wont get anything out your PC , no sounds nothing...Unfortunatly you will need to buy a new one ...and this could of been caused by a number of reasons....Hope you come right bud

JBLPro Compac computer speakers wont work


Well from what you said no device, it was not detected because of your new magic jack. There might be a conflict in your hardware. Try scan plug and play devices if it can detect your jbl or reinstall both you devices.

Hi There Try this, CONNECTION Check your connections on Rear part of your PC. Lime is for Sound Out usually a speaker, Pink is for Mic, Blue for Audio Input. VOLUME Try Adjusting the vlume on your PC first. Check the volume on the Headphone too if there is one. CLEANING Using a dump clothe. Wipe the plugs with a twisting motion. WIRELESS\BLUETOOTH Check your battery if it is drained. Try replacing them with a new one or charge them if they are rechargables. If all fails then You may have a Sound Card problem. Using a spare Speaker or Headphone check it if it works. If its not then its Defective and needs replacement. If its working then your Speakers or Headphones are defective. Try fixing them by cleaning or checking the Continuity of its cables using a analog Multi tester. Hope This helps ======================= If you are having trouble with Newly bought items then return them and demand a replacement or a refund! You may have purchased a reconditioned\repaired\factory defect product.
