Sounds like your lcd inverter is going bad. If you check e-bay for your model computer, you should be able to find a new/used inverter for under $25.00

Latitude B130 screen works great then cuts out to complete black, works with external monitor

Are you sure that the display is not set for external monitor only? Also take bright flashlight and shine on the display. If you can see the images then the problem is with the back light and usually caused by a bad inverter. Some times you can get the back light or inverter bu most times it is easier and cheaper to replace the entire display.

How do i fix the lines on my toshiba satellite laptop l25-s121?

More than likely the screen. The inverter normally causes things on the desktop to be barely visible. The whole screen looks black, but with a flashlight you can see the images are there when the inverter is bad.

Turn on laptop, loads fine, screen comes up, then screen goes black. computer is still running and you can see it if you put a flashlight on, but screen remains black.

Try to adjust the back-light on the screen by pressing the FN and UP arrow to increase the light.

If that does not work then it means that your back-light on the screen has either failed completely of works for a couple of minutes and then it goes off. You need to have your screen replaced with a new one.

Sorry for the bad news.

The screen is dark , you can barely see the display, when you but it up you can clearly see the maufacturer's emblem but then it goes black

Backlight on the LCD is bad. Try using a flashlight on the screen while system is on, if you can see it, need to replace it. Hope this helps.

Dell latitude D610. Screen goes black. External Monitor OK.

Make sure you have not accidentally used the FN+F5 key
That combination sets the laptop to use an external display.

If using that does not give you a display take a small torch (flashlight if in USA) and shine it at an angle on the laptop screen.
If you can see any sort of picture you would be looking at replacement of some minor parts to the laptop screen

Hope this gives you the information you need. If not add any extra information you may have and lets see if we can FixYa

Laptop has a black screen no picture.

It sounds like the back-light in your laptop's LCD screen has died. If you turn the laptop on, and hold the screen up to the light, you may be able to see the operating system and windows, but since the screen isn't emitting any light, it appears to be off or all black. If this is the case, you'll need to either replace the back-light, have the laptop repaired, or replace the whole thing. There's no easy fix for a dead back-light.
