Question about Sony DAV-BC150 System
Two days after the guarantee expired, I experienced a "no disc" error. It does not read CD's or DVD's. A friend looked after our home whilst we were on leave, and the DVD player never read any discs again. The same person looked after a friend of mine's house thereafter, they had the same problem once they returned, but, in this case, it was a different brand DVD player, with exactly the same error. Is this coincidence?
Found the problem.The ribbon going to optics was replaced and problem solved, at about R400.00. Suppose it was worth it.

Given how close to the warranty termination the problem occurred, I would call Sony and request warranty service. You should speak to a supervisor who will have the power to grant that concession. If that fails, open up the unit and clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. That may resolve it. Otherwise, the optics assembly will need to be replaced. I think that model uses a KHS-240. I can look that up if it comes to that though.
