are you talking cord as in electrical cord /flex or vacuum hose in plastic pipe
if it is so bad that you cannot lay it out straight and it is a plastic hose then it is too old and sun damaged to fix so get a new hose
if it is an electrical cord , get an electrician to fit a new one
Contact Maytronics, manufacturer of the Dolphin cleaners, for troubleshooting assistance and referrals to regional service centers directly at www.maytronicsus.com or 1-888-DOLPHIN.
Check to make sure that your power supply is in a position that it can reach all sides of the pool. It may be as simple as repositioning your power supply to make it more effective. Also, with these automatic pool cleaners, you need to make sure that the filter is off, because it being on can affect where the cleaner is able to go. Finally, make sure the handle is locked in a diagonal position.
If the dolphin is falling backward when it meets the water line, there is an easy fix. The automatic pool cleaners often have this problem. The easiest solution is to remove the handle floats and attach an 8 oz weight to the bottom inlet cover.
The wires in the pool cleaner probably did disconnect from the motor. You might not be able to see the disconnection, but i would guess this is the problem since you already know your son made the mistake. You are probably going to have to take it to a service center so an electrician can reconnect your wires.
It is probably the motor pack failing. You can contact us through www.arrowpools.net for servicing information or other FAQ's. You can also contact the manufacturer through www.maytronicsus.com
