Hi when you try to connect power to radio does it keep blowing fuses ,iff so remove the bottom panel/cover from the radio at the back of the radio where the power terminals enter the board you will see a black diode with a silver strip this is what we call a reversed or dummy diode remove this and your radio should work ok make sure to replace with new one you can find these in most cb radios goodlyck

I have a Teaberry stalker one 40 channel. Is it rare because most of the stalker one's I've seen are 23 channels.

if you are looking for 40 channel CB than i would look under ham radio operators, CB repair shops, if you are looking for another one, you may even look up on www.ebay.com
the ham radio operators would be where i would look and talk to.
i would look for ham radio clubs, they have swap meets all the time, old tv and radio repair shop. i have been in ham radio operations in 20 yrs and i do not know anyone. you may check out the local library., the FCC may be help you find local ham radio operator in your location. they will help you find that old equipment, than on the other side of the coin what are you willing to pay to locate an operate one is and are they willing to part with it.

good luck rod

I need the frequencies for this radio

Here's a list: Frequency Chart

Keep in mind - only those frequencies in "D" can be transmitted on in the US. These are the Citizen's Band (or C.B.) Radio frequencies. The others are above and below the FCC allotted range for CB. Transmitting on these other frequencies requires an FCC issued license.

You can face fines, imprisonment or both if caught transmitting without the proper license.

Never will get caught , everyone should crank it...

FCC no longer monitors CB communications. As well they want little or nothing to do with issue reported about CB radios. The FCC has less then 16 field offices in the US today. They do not have the funding to police CB radio. Its also in the 27 MHZ band, which is only used today by CB radio, and toys.

Every thing else today is going up in frequency. Cell phones are in the 800mhz range etc. There is no money in the 27mhz band.

The FCC rarely fines any one with CB radio's runing illegal equipment. Nor do they even rarely make appearances at people dwellings who run illegal equipment when reported. At most they send a letter telling them to stop using illegal equipment.

And by no means would they even attempt to pay attention to some one running a barefoot radio that has been peaked and tuned and doing some where around 20 watts.

You would have to be running multiple kilowatts and have half of a town reporting you interfering with all of their appliances before they would be knocking at your door.

Never will get caught? Heh, Never will be paid attention to is more like it.

I want to find out where to go to learn how to do cb radio repair

You will need to pass the 1st Class Radio Operators exam given by the FCC ... it is very riggorous ...

I dont know all the particulars ... but that is a place to start.

My friend would like to purchase a Connex CX 3400 HP. The store told him that it has to be converted to a CB radio. But they can't do it because its illegal. Can you explain this to me?

These radios are know as what's called 'export' radios. They are imported under the auspices of being a 10 Meter Amateur radio and then through a typically easy modification are made to allow the selection of US CB channels. usually the modification involves plugging in a loose connector inside the radio radio chassis and/or removing a jumper wire soldered to a circuit board. If there is a nearby CB Shop they will usually do this for a modest fee.

Keep in mind that a radio needs to be Type Accepted by the FCC to be legal to use on the CB band in the US and export radios typically are not. Be sure to check the rear label for an FCC ID number.

Icr 2980 only get 20 wates on am

20 watts is very good considering it comes from the factory with only 4 watts. 4 watts is the leagal wattage allowed by the FCC. But FCC doesn't care any more.

If you need more wattage then that, you will need to get an AM linear amplifire. The radio's dead key must be set to a lower dead key to run it with out burning it up.

10 meter portable

There is no factory made 10 meter CB Radio made for US use. CB Radios use 11 meters, and the FCC doesn't allow the combination of 10 and 11 meter radios combines. Although, many people modify 10 meter radios to work on the 11 meter ( CB ) band, it's not legal. Good Luck
