Question about Brother MFC-440CN InkJet Printer

Prints blurry Tried the alignmemnt test print a few times to no avail. Any other way to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance!

    There are enough service centers for proffessional printers but everyone says it is cheaper to by a new printer.

    Is there no way to clean te print head? My machine is not even two years old.

Yes. If you have alignment probs and cant fix it by yourself you have to take the printer to a service dealer. The personell can do some special alignment which cant be done by users (special service software needed).

My printer, HP 8500, has been trying to delete a document for hours with no apparent results. I am unable to print anything else although it does put a new document in queue. I do not get any error...


There are 2 simple methods to resolve any print job stuck in queue issue. However, both the methods will not fix printing issue if the HP Printer is in Error mode. Make sure your printer is able to print self test page to prove its functionality,

First method.

This Utility program resolve all the printing issue for HP Printers Only ( Network and USB connection )

This Utility will Resolve :

1. Check Connectivity between the Pc/laptop and HP Printer
2. Check if there any Documents stuck in Queue
3. Check if all the software/Drivers are correctly Installed
4. Check if the HP Printer icon is the default icon to print
5. Will Resolve Printer Spooler Issue and few more issue

Download the file on Desktop and Run the program ( Ex. File name = HPPDU.EXE )

Click Here to download the Utility and save on Desktop location
Run the HPPDU file and follow the instruction on screen to fix.

If this does not fix, try the 2nd Method given below ( this is manual process to clear the print job stuck in queue )

This works for all brands of printers ( HP, Canon, Epson, Brother etc )

Click Start > Programs > Accessories > then select Command prompt, then the black window will open and there type NET STOP SPOOLER and hit enter that will confirm service is stopped , after that on the black window type NET START SPOOLER and hit enter. Repeat this step 3-4 times and end the command with NET START SPOOLER and hit enter. Open the Printers folder and Refresh the Window ( Press F5 on the keyboard )

The service will be started and all print queue should already be remove.

I am having an issue with the printing all copies are coming out off centered and blurry....? how can I fix it? thanks


It sounds like an alignment issue of some kind.
Use the instructions here to print a test page, then set the alignment, then print again. Also check to see what your print quality settings are. If that has no effect, try another paper.

PRINT IS BLURRY


The printed output is fuzzy, blurry, or grainy, or the edges of objects in the images are jagged. Solution Follow these steps until the issue is resolved. Step one: Check your paper
  • Many papers have printing and non-printing sides. Load the paper with the printing side down.
  • Use the correct paper type for the project. For everyday documents, plain paper works well. For documents with dense printing, such as high-contrast graphics or photographs, use HP Advanced paper for the best results.
  • If these steps do not help, try a different paper. Ink might not bleed as easily on heavier paper. Paper that does not accept ink well is also prone to bleeding and smearing. HP designs its inks and papers to work together.
Step two: Check the settings
  1. In the program being used for printing, click File , and then click Print . The Print window opens.
  2. Make sure the appropriate product is selected, and then click Preferences or Properties . The Preferences/Properties window opens.
  3. Click the Printing Shortcuts tab. Consider modifying some or all of the options in the Printing Shortcuts menu to increase print quality.
    • Print quality : If the quality of the printouts is not acceptable, try increasing the print quality. To print more quickly, try decreasing the print quality.
    • Paper type : If one of the options matches the paper type exactly, select it instead of Automatic .
    • Paper size : Make sure that this option matches the paper loaded in the product.
    To see additional options, click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced Features . The Advanced Features window opens. Consider changing the following option: Ink volume : Adjust the amount of ink that prints on a page. For lighter images (less ink), drag the slider to the left. For darker images (more ink), drag the slider to the right. The lighter the ink volume, the more quickly the printout dries.
Step three: Check image resolution Make sure that the image file has enough resolution for the size of the printed picture. Although many photo applications can enlarge an image or part of an image to any size, eventually the individual pixels become visible and the whole image looks blurry. Here are some general guidelines for image file resolutions:
  • 94 pixels per cm (240 pixels per inch) for images to print on smaller format photo paper, such as 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inch)
  • 117 pixels per cm (300 pixels per inch) or higher for larger format photo papers
  • Lower resolutions might produce acceptable images when printed on rough-textured paper
Step four: Align the cartridges If the previous steps have not improved the appearance of the printout, align the cartridges. See the user guide for alignment instructions. HP 6310 AIO Won't Print HTML Documents


Thought that I'd report that I fixed my printer. I named my printer wrong btw. It is an hp deskjet F340 All in One.
  • Go to the Tools and select Internet Options. Then go to the Programs tab. Select Set Programs then Set Defaults and then Set Program Associations. Select Internet Explorer.
  • Go to the Tools and select Internet Options. Then go to the Advanced tab. Select Restore Advanced Settings. Restart Internet Explorer and try to print again.
It did not work when I removed the windows updates. I also tried this online help and it did not work. HP suggested that I install Firefox. I did not like this option so I'm glad my fix worked for me.

Printing crooked, blurred, bad roller?


Sounds like when you pulled out the paper jam, you misaligned the print carriage. That would produce both the noises you hear and the print quality issues. HP.com has a few web pages on their site that might help. The first one deals with noisy print carriages. Unfortunately, it's not dedicated to just your product, but the steps should generally apply:

If all else fails, unplug the power cord from the printer, wait 20 seconds or so, then plug it back in. That should restart the printer and make it go into a self test which may include a realignment procedure. Watch for any error messages on the display on the printer's control panel. Sometimes to realign, it prints out two test pages and instructs you to place the first printout on the scanner bed and then press Enter.
