Question about HP OfficeJet 7410 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

HP 7410 When printing some lines don't print properly-appears to be just the top half or less of the line will print. It seems it happens every 3rd or 4th line, but has done it on the second line also, so is not consistent. Or sometimes it prints these lines "faded" or smeared. My first guess was that it looks like the paper may be "skipping"

Words and/or letters in words are missing in different parts of the page. Also copies are smeared. I did everything that the HP Help desk suggested without results. They suggested that I purchase an upgrade to my machine. I have had it a year and used it about 4 months!!!! Any ideas?

Do a self test on the printer and see what that looks like.

You can align the print cartridges at any time from the control panel or by using the HP Image Zone software on your computer. Aligning the print cartridges ensures high-quality output.
Note: If you remove and reinstall the same print cartridge, the HP all-in-one will not prompt you to align the print cartridges. The HP all-in-one remembers the alignment values for that print cartridge, so you do not need to realign the print cartridges.

To align the cartridges from the control panel:
  1. Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
  2. Press Setup.
  3. Press 6, then press 2.
  4. This displays the Tools menu and then selects Align Print Cartridge.
  5. The HP all-in-one prints a print cartridge alignment sheet and aligns the print cartridges.

Try printing out the test page from the printer, this will show you if any of the inkjet holes are getting plugged. If you can't print a test page without the skipping try changing the ink cartridge(s), the test page will show you which one is clogging.

try to clean the print heads of the ink cartridges. you can do it in the HP solution center. you can run it through all 3 tests so you make sure its clean. if it doesnt work after that, your ink cartidge level might be off, because i hear they never work half the time anyways. i would buy new ink if the cleaning the heads does not work. good luck!

HP 5550 prints only half of most lines

If you print very much, especially with color, the best solution may be to sell the HP, and get  a Canon MP520,  it's super fast for an inkjet, the brand name Canon ink cartridges are much larger in (ml) ink, it comes with FULL ink cartridges, not starters with little ink.   The color in is in individual cartridges C, Y M (they don't all get used at the same rate) so you will potentiall save lots of money.  A Canon brand Black cartridge for $13 prints about twice as many pages as the HP $30 cartridge ... you do the math.

Oh yeah,  it's a scanner and fast color&bw copier too.

$129 at walmart (the cost of about 4 HP cartridges)  I am confident that you will never buy another HP printer.
