Vertical lines on copied page

Run a copy on the glass if there are no lines then something is on the scan glass of the document feeder. Use some window cleaner and scrub the document feeder glass and test. Sometimes white out or ink will stick to the glass and the scanner reads the dot as a line.

I have a Sharp AL-1631. The single copies made face down on the glass are fine. The multiple copies made on the automatic feeder have vertical lines running through them. Can you please assist me.

This is caused by the adf scan glass needing to be cleaned. If you look just to the left of the large glass you will see a thin strip of glass encased in plastic. You need to clean this glass. It may look clean but this glass is only used when using the feeder and sometimes any ink spots or dirt are not visible. If you only get the lines when using the feeder the problem is on this strip of glass.

My Sharp Al-1642cs is leaving a black stripe on the paper when coping.

Does the line appear when you copy from the glass? Or is it Just the document feeder. If it is just throught the doc feeder then you have to clean the **** glass next to the main glass. It only takes a small dot to make a line. Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

Vertical lines on multiple page copying

Did you check to see if the lines are before or after the fixing unit? Stop a copy before it gets to the fixing unit. If there is no lines in the same spot, then the problem is in the fixing unit, if not check the and clean the optics and dust proof glass. Good Luck...

Lines on copys when i feed through top feeder

There is a small strip of glass under the feeder. Not the main glass, but look where the lamp is sittting in the start position.
You have something on that section of glass.
It may be very tiny, but that is what causes that. Best way I have found to get that clean is with some alcohol and just a plain piece of copy paper crumpled and used as your cleaning towel.
The reason it is there only when you copy through the feeder is this. When you copy off the glass, the lamp moves and scans the original end to end. So a spot is simply a spot.
When you run through the feeder, the lamp parks and the document passes over the lamp scanning that way. So any mark between the lamp and document will repeat and be line down the page.
