Whirlpool dryer LER5636PQ0 push to start keeps failing to work

You could have a worn door switch . Push in on the plastic piece which closing the door actuates and press the start botton . If it starts ,several times , then replace the door switch . Pt # 3406107 . Do this after you put the 2 thermal fuse (slim white piece with 2 wires attached )wires togather for testing purposes only . BE sure to unplug dryer before doing ANY repair testing first ! If it starts by jumping the wires , then pt # 3392519 fot thermal fuse .

Heating element turns on, dryer will not spin, belt is good

Check the door switch, thermal fuse(s) and check the start button. You may have burned contacts in a switch. Check the switch in the motor, with the power cable disconnected. Take the screws off, open the switch pry it open with a flat screw driver. Then pull the contacts out with one at a time with the cable connected. File, sand, use a wire brush do what ever you have to to clean the contacts. The press it back in, do the next one. One at a time, put them back press the switch make sure the contacts, make contact with each other. The top contact has to make contact with two contacts ether or when you press the switch. It should be to one side or the other making contact, this will make sense if you decide to open the switch. Put it back together and check the dryer. This is not difficult to do, it might be intimidating but not difficult.

Doesn't work at all

Check the door switch. With the door open, on the upper right side of the tub opening there should be a little lever. Push on it and you should hear a click sound. If the lever is broken or no click sound, you need to replace the switch. If that checks good check your circuit breakers and power cord and outlet.

Maytag Electric Dryer Stopped Working

Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.

To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning

You will need a volt Volt-Ohm (VOM) reader to fix this problem.
This doesn't rquire sound technical knowledge for this but you should be good at following some instructions.
This could be the effect of a number of problems. Here's a list of things to check and details on how to do it.
  • Fuse could be bad -- Check the fuse for a break inside. If it’s bad, replace it with an identical fuse.
  • Temperature switch could be bad -- Use VOM to check the switch. Set VOM to RX1, remove leads and touch the probes to the switch's terminals. The reading should be zero or infinity. Turn the switch, and the reading should change from zero to infinity or infinity to zero. If not, the switch is bad.
  • Thermostat could be bad -- Set the VOM to RX1, take a lead off one of the two outside terminals and press the probes to the two outside terminals. There should be a reading of zero. If not, it's bad.
  • Heating coils may be bad -- Set the VOM to RX1 and remove the leads from the coil. Press the probes to the terminals. If the reading is zero, the coil is bad.
  • Timer could be bad -- Disconnect the leads from the motor. Set the VOM to RX100. Clip the probes onto the leads. If the reading is infinity, the timer motor is bad.
