Question about GE WBSR3140DW Top Load Washer
With the front panel off and with washer in wash cycle, the motor is turning, but the agitator is not moving and there is a metal grinding noise from the area of the motor belt pully. There is also a lot of what looks like metal fillings in the area of the motor. During the spin cycle the water is pumped out of the tub, but the tub itself is not moving. The motor is turning and the belt is moving, but the tub is not turning and again there is the metal grinding noise.
Looks like the bearings may have failed. TURN OFF the POWER and try and rotate the agitator/tub by hand. If it is jammed you should investigate why. Possibly caused by bearing failure or something wound around spindle.
Take care and do not attempt to investigate the problem without first disconnecting from the mains!
