Question about SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player

Not working my sansa e250 deleted all the music and now the music that it left on there says all tracks are bad and now the screen faded out to a all blue screen and now it doesent work

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

How can I delete EVERYTHING from my Sansa E-250. I already deleted all the files from Album and Music folders. However, the device still shows some songs as bad tracks, but I can't see these when I connect...


Try this solution:
Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,etc from MP3 Player
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer" When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there. Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible. Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete" Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want. Cannot get music on or off of MP3 player.


The 260 you can remove the screws on back cover and remove the battery and replace to reset, not sure on the 250, you might also want to go their website and download the latest firmware updates.

The songs are in the wrong format or have expired licenses

There are 2 ways to format an mp3 player - if you were formatting the mp3 player from "My Computer," then try reformatting from Windows Media Player instead - I have a "tips and tricks" entry on How to Format an Mp3 Player for details

If that doesn't work, then double-click on My Computer, double-click on the Sansa player, and go to the various folders that it lists - music, voice, etc. Delete the songs ONLY - do not delete the dat, bat, ini, inf, or other system files

Sansa is unable to synch new music and only has 5 "bad tracks" on it that I can't delete...


Two possible methods:
Go ahead and do this, in case the DB is corrupted:

Music will not play


For this problem you will first have to make sure that you Sansa is in "MSC" format under settings. Then connect it to your computer and locate it under "My Computer." Right click it and find "Format." When the screen pops up make sure it is NOT on quick format and hit okay. This should erase everything off of it. :) I had the same thing happen!

BAD TRACK FOR EVERY SONG


Hi tooky. Getting a "Bad Track" message on the E250 may be an indication of memory corruption, music file corruption, or outdated subscription/license info. One solution would be to format your player in Windows Media Player (version 10 or 11): 1. Make sure your player is in MTP mode by navigating the menu as follows: Menu > Settings > USB Mode You would get a choice of "MTP" or "MSC". Please select "MTP". If your player is an "E250 Rhapsody series" player, select "Plays for Sure". 2. Plug your player to your PC and run Windows Media Player. Click on the "Sync" tab and make sure the E250 is listed. Look for the "Format" button (it would look like a "pencil" on Windows Media Player 10) and click on it. Follow the on-screen prompt. 3. Re-load your songs by either copying/pasting your songs to the player or by using Windows Media Player's "Synchronization" feature. You could also format the player while in "MSC" or "Rhapsody" mode by browsing the player in Explorer, right-clicking the drive letter corresponding to the player, then select "Format". Follow the on-screen prompts Another solution would be to update the firmware of your player by downloading the Sansa Firmware Updater using this link from the SanDisk website (instructions are found on this site as well): For standard E250 or E250R "Rhapsody Series": http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376 Make sure your player is set to MSC mode, or "Rhapsody" Mode The type of music file might also be the cause. If your music files are licensed, purchased or acquired via subscription, you may want to contact the provider for more info on how to re-download the music files. I hope this helps. I did not get the "Swtich to Recovery mode" screen, my screen was stuck on "Bad Track." I formatted the drive (which deleted EVERYTHING), and then i put the songs back on, and it works just fine. Try this, it might help.
