Note*
CPU hasn't been used for referring to a personal computer in years, because the term is a misnomer.
CPU stands for Central Processing Unit.
Another name is Microprocessor, or simply Processor for short.

Just passing information, don't shoot the messenger.

Think it keeps overheating

This could be one of many possibilities. Check all your fans, too make sure they are running, especially if your CPU has its own fan, and you have good open ventilation around the cabinet. If someone has tweaked (overclocked) the CPU you could boot into the BIOS and use the factory default settings to undo any tweaks. You could also re-seat the CPU heat sink (rarely needed), which requires a tube of CPU heat sink goop and careful cleaning to get the old goop off. If you have open vent space, you could add another fan to the cabinet, close to the CPU area. Good luck.

How to see the motherboard model number

Usually located in-between expansion slots on the motherboard, i.e., white PCI slots;
May be in the middle of the motherboard;
May be near the edge of the motherboard.

Motherboard installed in a computer that works, and is internet ready?
Suggest use CPU-Z, from CPUID.com,

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

When CPU-Z is opened, it automatically opens to the CPU (Processor) tab.

If you click on the Mainboard tab, you'll receive in-depth info about the Motherboard.

Need help in downloading, installing, or using CPU-Z, post back in a Comment.

Laptop overheating, need to remove the back casing.

Most laptop having high temperature. Use notebook cooler and place it under the laptop...Overheating is caused by CPU..so if you can opening the CPU, clean the CPU for both cooler and CPU surface, then put into it a cpu thermal grease. This way will reduce CPU temperature.

WANT TO KNOW HOW TO INSTALL A PROCESSOR

First you will need to know what kind of socket you have on your motherboard, so you can purchase the correct CPU for your replacement. Intel and AMD have lots of different socket sizes so don't overlook this point. If you have the CPU that you are going to replace, all you need is a screwdriver, thermal paste, and CPU fan.

1) Open the case cover with screwdriver, and open side panel to locate CPU.

2) Using a screwdriver or sometimes just release clamps to take off the CPU fan.

3) Release lever on the side of the socket to release the CPU.

4) Pull out old CPU and install new CPU, (Be very careful not to bend the pins on the CPU.)

5) Put small amount of thermal paste on top CPU.

6) Replace CPU fan and connect power to the fan, replace cover.

Now in a perfect world this should be it, but if you upgraded you CPU you should go into you BIOS and check the settings for your CPU. To make sure the voltage is correct.

Look here if you need more help.

I want to overclock my cpu, but my cpu ratio on setup is locked. what do I do to unlock it, my board is a P4m800-M7, it's old, but I still enjoy using it.

If you haven't already, update your motherboard to the latest BIOS. That should provide you with the ability to unlock your CPU ratio. If it doesn't, then your board may not have that capability.
