Take a look at this YouTube page that explains with good videos what are some of the common problems with heat pump noise. The one that seems dominant is the defrost cycle a heat pump goes thru when it melts ice off the evaporative coils. In defrost cycle, The compressor runs but the cooling fan does not, so you will hear a loud buzzing sound and the unit sounds like it is stalled...because only the compressor is running to generate heat to melt coil ice.

Heat has been hard to get started now it has stopped

your problem is the heating element is burnt out. This can be caused by a number of problems the most common is debris getting past the filter and accumulating on the heating coil causing a burn out. The heating coil sits behind the evaporator coil so you will need to remove the a/c from the casing. Once this is done you will see the heating element . If you are able to do this repair you will see that it is fairly simple. The element actually looks like the element in a toaster. Remove the wires from the element unscrew the element from the a/c case taking it and the model and serial #'s to an appliance supply for replacement. If you aren't in the mood to mess with it an a/c tech won't charge an arm and a leg to do this for you it's usually the cost for the part and a slight labor charge. Good Luck on your repairs hope this helped

Looking for inf on Heat Controler Inc. Fan coil

What I would suggest if you plan on replacing this motor your self, would to take motor out and take it down to an appliance parts house and pick up a 1/4 hp. motor that will work. If the amperage is close and the shaft diameter is the same, you will save some money with an after market or universal motor. Use a long Allen wrench to loosen the blower wheels and bolts if it has them on the shaft, mark the wiring so you know where the new wire goes, and install in reverse of removing. TURN off POWER!
Good Luck,
Sincerely, shastalaker7
ps Allen wrench are for the set screws on both shafts. This motor can be tricky to remove.
