Hi,

Providing the laptop was built after 2005 then there should be a recovery partition on the laptop.

Turn the laptop on and repeatedly press the F10 key, this should get you into the recovery partition and allow you to factory restore the laptop.

Regards.

How to restore a toshiba satellite a135-s2286 notebook without cd?

the f8 function is only to try and remedy boot problems. the recovery option you're getting is to restore if you have already made recovery discs.
if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive you should be able to access it when you boot up. before starting your laptop press and hold 0(zero) key and power on the laptop. once it starts you should get a screen with 3 options then choose option 1 to get back to factory restore.

I set a password to my laptop and I can't remember what it is, how can I get to use my laptop again??

@pinkruthpink

The quickiest way to reset your password is to run System Recovery (aside paying someone from a local computer store and use a software to reset it). Gateway laptops have a built-in recovery mode on the system wherein you can restore the computer to factory default without using a restore discs. (please note that this will erase everything). The hotkey for the recovery is the ALT+F10 key. After you press the power button, you need to hold ALT key and then simultaneously press the F10 key.. Once the recovery menu has loaded, click Restore to Factory Default Settings.

Good luck

My system Acer 7720G was reformated but i intended to restore back to factory settings. How do i restore to factory setting without the recovery disc. Thanks. Okeniyi Michael

You need to get the orignal acer installation disc which came with the laptop. That would be able to send it to default for you. Any other installation you do can't send it to the factory settings.

Selling my Toshiba laptop and I want to restore it to default/factory settings. When this was bought did not come with a disc.

When your Toshiba Satellite laptop goes on the fritz, there are several instances where the best solution is to delete everything and start over. If your system frequently crashes or you can't remove a specific virus, you may want to restore the laptop back to original factory settings. While the easiest way to restore the system is to use the operating system restore disc, it is possible to restore the system without it. Each Satellite laptop also includes a hard drive recovery utility that lets you restore the operating system without the restore disc.

1. Take account of any files or programs you still want to use after the Toshiba laptop is restored back to its factory settings. Transfer the files to a backup location, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive.

2. Restart the Toshiba Satellite laptop's operating system. Wait for the Toshiba logo to appear on the screen.

3. Press the key that brings up the hard drive disk utility menu. Depending on the specific model of your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the key will either be "0," "F1," or "F8."

4. Press "1" or click "Restore Original Factory Image." Click "Yes." Select "Next" to begin the restoration process.

5. Restart the Toshiba laptop computer when the restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.

6. Transfer the backup copies of the data you saved earlier back to the Toshiba's hard drive. Re-install any programs you need, such as your software firewall or anti-virus tool.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya
