Thanx for your response. It is basically not visible. I went to the settings command of the smart drive and clicked on the " Install from my computer" command. Since then it has been malfunctional. I would really appreciate your assistance.

The flash drive may be damaged if it was dropped recently etc. Try a different USB port on the computer most computers have more than one.

How to use a usb flash drive

If you have a modern PC or laptop you shoud have USB slots in the side of the case somewhere. The Cruzer flash drive plug slides out of the casing - just push down on the light-coloured area and slide it out - and this then plugs into the USB slot (which is about half and inch long and a quarter of an inch wide with an offset bar so make sure you have the Cruzer the right way up). The PC or laptop should 'recognise' it automatically.

Try them in another user name, or if still no good try another machine. Go into "my computer" and see if it is showing the drives are recognised, if not restart the machine with the drives connected. If you still can't get in, you may have to call sandisk to get a solution from their proprirtary software. If you used another user account,or machine, that may be it

We can fix it -- and recover the data (provided it is recoverable -- which it generally is). If we don't get your data back, we ship the drive back to you and you pay nothing. We've been recovering data for over 16 years and are successful about 85% of the time.

Is the account that your tying to access the drive with an Administrator account? If not, Log in as Administrator and try to access the new drive. If you ARE using Administrator privileges on the vista machine, the problem lies in the U3 smart driver. Try downloading and installing the drivers for the XP SP2 os on scan disks website, If vista rejects the install package off of the scan disk website, let me know and i'll extract the drivers and build an install for them for you.
