I need to program the channels into my scanner again and I do not know how to do it. Can you help my program my channels? I have a Radioshack Pro-83, can someone help me program it?

WIRED should only appear on the screen if you have a programming interface cable connected to the scanner. Assuming that you do not have the cable connected, you'll need to RESET the scanner to clear it and restore it to normal operation. This process will erase/delete everything that you've programmed into the scanner, so be prepared to reprogram it. To RESET the PRO-83: - Power the scanner OFF - Press and hold the 2, 9, and HOLD keys and power the scanner ON - The word CLEAr will display to confirm the RESET

To program a known frequency into your scanner: - Power the scanner ON - Press the HOLD key - enter the channel number that you wish to program - Press the FUNC and PGM keys - Enter the frequency, including decimal point (E.G., 155.265) - Press E to enter the data into memory

You may have inadvertently locked the keyboard. If a key-shaped icon is showing on the display, press and hold the FUNC and KEYLOCK keys until the icon disappears. If that doesn't work, you may need to reset the scanner to restore normal operation. NOTE: this operation will delete all information that you have programmed into the scanner. To RESET the PRO-83, power the scanner OFF. Press and hold the 2, 9 and HOLD keys, and power the scanner ON. After about three seconds, CLEAr should appear on the display to confirm the RESET.

- Press PGM. PGM appears on the display, indicating that the scanner is in programming mode. - Enter the number of the channel that you wish to program (1 - 50), then press PGM again. As an alternative, press PGM repeatedly until the desired channel number appears on the display. - Enter the desired frequency, including the decimal (for example, 156.045). - Press E/L-OUT to store the frequency. - Repeat steps 2 - 4 to program another frequency.

To reset the scanner (clear a problem or keyboard lockup): - Tune the power OFF and then back ON. - Insert a pointed object (paper clip, ballpoint pen tip, etc) into the RESET opening on the side of the scanner and gently press the button inside.
If the RESET does not clear the problem you can INITIALIZE the scanner, but this procedure will clear/erase all information that you have programmed into the scanner. - Power the scanner OFF and then ON. - Press and hold the TUNE/CLEAR button while pressing the reset button as above. The display will momentarily blank. - When the display resumes, press TUNE/CLEAR again.

Radio Shack has a manual for the PRO-83 scanner online in Pdf format. It worked great for me and I honsetly could not tell any difference in the PRO-83 and my PRO-84 !! It worked great for me and I had my scanner set up and working very quickly!! Hope this helps you all as much as it did me.. the manual is for the PRO-83 200 Channel compact scanner w/signal stalker search and lighted keypad.
