My Computer Wont Charge!!

My dog chewed through the original power cord to my Ideapad Y510, so I hadn't used my laptop for a couple of months. Well, I bought an iGo Green power adapter, it powers my laptop, But doesn't charge. I cleaned the battery connectors, and was wondering if a battery sits too long will it lose its ability to hold a charge, or is it my adapter? Please Help!

It wont power up when plugged in I have no battery

Almost all laptops require a battery be installed for them to power up. Even if the battery no long holds a charge, it still requires a battery to be installed.

My lenovo y510 power is sometime not working.

Check the DC Power Jack where the Power Cord Plugs into the laptop.

Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Hi,i am using lenovo ideapad y510 the screen will not displaying what is the problem

Hi. If the laptop is turning on then try draining the electrostatic enerygy of the motherboard. Take out the battery and unplugged the power cord from the wall socket. Press nad hold the power button for 30 sces to drain the electrostactic energy. Put everything back in after 30 sces and turn ON the computer. If still same problem then this could be a LCD problem. You may call lenovo technical support at 1-877-453-6686 then press option 3 if you want to have the issue repaired.

try removing the battery and removing the adaptor press and hold down the power button for 5-10 seconds then let got this will power drain your system board noy turn the system on using the battery only without any adaptors to charge or power the system, try turning the system on if the system turnes on leave it turned on for a couple of hours then conenct your sysem adaptor monitor if the battery light and the battery indicator on the lower right of the screen in windows woll indicate that the system is chargin if it is then I believe everything should be fine the blue indicator is for your system if it is blue then your system is turned on and has power if it turned orange and blnking then the battery will be more likely be almost out of juice or may need charging.

Battery will not charge/ keep computer on. laptop must be plugged in to be used. I have tried a different battery and power cord (my wife by sheer coincidence bought the exact same model laptop as me a...

Sounds to me like the transformer circuit that enables the batery to charge. If you have bought your machine within the last 12 months it should still be covered by warranty so go back to the supplier. If not covered I wouod still try as it is not beyond reasonable expecations that the machine will operate perfectly in very way for more than 1 year.

My dog chewed my power cord. Dh "spliced" and taped for now. The laptop will work with power cord, but battery will not hold ANY sort of charge. Is the problem my cord or the battery now?

ask the dog.....!!!
ok sorry jokes apart...

was the battery working before ur dog helped u out...
remove the power cord and check how long ur battery can hold on till it dies down...when ur notbook is ON

if it holds for more than 10 mins then the battery will charge if the power cord gives it enough power to charge, else u may have a power adaptor that gives enough for notebook to work but not enough for the battery to charge at the same time....
u may have to change both the adaptor and battery....or else change the dog...ha ha ha...
u r the best judge....ask the dog to do some work on it may be......
just kidding....
