I bought one pair of used Gem Sound speakers, each equiped with one 15" whoofer and 3 piezo Tweeter. The finish is gray carpet. I can't find any model number on them. The speaker terminals have: Gem Sound Corp - New York printed on. The center of the whoofer have Gem sound printed in white. I would like to know, the power handling capacity in Watts RMS for those speakers. James P

Hi,

Would you pls try here and see if any of the Gem Sound speakers shown resembles that of what you have. Should you be able to pin point the model, then the page would also be able to give you an idea as to the power handling capacity.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

How to hook up Panasonic SB PM19 speakers to SA-PM23 reciever

yes you can. these are called "bi wired" speakers which means there's a hook up for the woofer and the tweeter individually. If your amp have just 2 speaker hookups it's no problem to hook the woofer/tweeter wires of each speaker together. If your amp had 4 speaker hookups, you could put the tweeters in 1 and the woofers in the other but it will still work fine with 2 speaker hookups.

Speaker buttons don't function correctly

The Speaker A and Speaker B buttons select pairs of speakers. If you have connected a pair of speakers to the "SPEAKER A" terminals on the rear of your Onkyo receiver, you will hear stereo sound when the Speaker A button is pressed on the front panel. If, for some reason, you wanted to connect a second set of speakers in the same room or perhaps another room you would connect those speakers to the "SPEAKER B" terminals on the rear. Pressing both buttons on the front panel would send sound output to both sets of speakers

Specs refer to UNdistorted sound. Send square waves to any speaker and it will die eventually, perhaps even the amp.

You are more likely to blow up speakers with an under-powered amp pushed to hard than a monster amp running well within its capacity. Distortion percentages rise vertically once the amp's useful range is exceeded. Tweeters are usually the first casualties.

It's tweeter hunting time.

I have 3 sets of 2 ceiling speakers install throught the home for listening to music from ipod, cd, fm, etc... These speakers are not for home theater use (I have another 7.1 system for that). My question...

Hi,
firstly you could be experiencing "phasing" as you may have not spaced/set up the speakers properly. Also make sure plus on the amp goes to plus on the speak and ten - to - on the amp and speaker. cross them over at any stage or pair and again you will get your problem.ugest
It could also be you sre over driving your amp. How many ohms is each speaker and how many ohms is your amp capable of? 6 speakers to one stereo amp with one speaker out is very rare and usually quite damaging to equipment.
personally I would suggest one pre amp (to plug sources into) then 3 stereo power amps (one for each pair of speakers)

I was doing a party iconnect the mic to mixer, they star to talk paralell with music and blow the upper part of speakers, they sound but not any treble

Hi,
What happened is that the tweeter is blown. or a fuse in the speaker that goes to the tweeter has blown. Hopefully that is it.
There are several causes. Here is the theory so you understand how to match an amplifier to a speaker system.
Tweeters have a much lower capacity for amplifier power then woofers do. All professional speakers as well as home speakers reflect this.
You may ask exactly what blew the tweeter?
Usually what destroys the tweeter is not amplifier power but distortion. If someone is overloading the microphone, or the microphone is not trimmed to the mixer. You get distortion. This distortion is what caused the tweeter to blow. The signal must be clean. If you put too much power in, it may survive OK but if you put distortion in, it will more likely blow.
It is no shame for this to happen. I have had it happen to me when mixing a live show. You just have to watch what is happening and not turn things up too loud so the mixer or the amplifier distorts.
Also when doing sound work, the ears of an engineer naturally lower the perception of loudness. Engineers often keep turning up the equipment up more and more during a performance because they have lost the perception of loudness that was there when they started. That is also the reason that many professional studio musicians and drummers loose much of their hearing at an early age.
Hope this helps,
Happy New Year,
Mark

Denon AVR 2807 with Bose Acoustimass 15

Well,i can tell you are not very focus, cause you posted Denon AVR-2807 with Bose AC 15 problem, but under your details, you put down AVR-5807!
First of all,it is so unfortunate that you are NOT able to gain and experience to true ability in sound for this wonderful receiver when you are using a dual tweeters speakers and expect to have good sound separation as a TWO WAY speakers(a tweeter and a midrange-for true high frequency and mid frequency sound separation.)
Secondly, you have defeated the audio configuration of the Denon AVR-2807,since all your speakers are control BY the Bose subwoofer.
Now,i could show you a way to hook this up,and it doesn't matter how you connect them, they are the "bicycle tires" installed with a "Porche"engine if you know what i mean.
If you want a good recommendation for your "beast",i will more than happy to show you the way!
Cheers,
solutiondoct
