Hi,

Most if not all laptop manufacturer also sell batteries for the model they carry/sell. You need to go the the website of your laptop manufacturer and look for an appropriate battery to your specific laptop model.

Alternately, there are available aftermarket/generic/replacement batteries that will also fit your laptop. You can try here, here or here. Additionally, there are some versions that has a higher capacity which translates to longer usage time.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Dell vostro 3500 shows battery connected but not charging and intermittently shoes no battery detected

Instructions

1
Determine if the laptop battery is defective. While less than 1 percent of batteries are defective, the possibility is still there. If the battery is new and only charges some of the way, it may just require a BIOS update to charge fully. New batteries that refuse to charge at all may be defective. Purchase a new laptop battery to replace the defective one.

2
Test the laptop power adapter to see if it's faulty. Run the laptop directly from the laptop power adapter and without the battery. If the laptop does not work with the adapter plugged in, the adapter is dead and you will need to replace it. The laptop battery may refuse to charge if the adapter is faulty. Charge the battery with the laptop turned off.

3
Insert the laptop battery into another laptop to test it. If the laptop battery charges in another laptop, the laptop's motherboard may be bad. Replacing a motherboard in a computer can be very expensive. If the cost to fix the computer is not worth the cost of replacing the motherboard, consider purchasing a new laptop.

4
Reinstall the battery to ensure all connectors latch properly. The latch mechanism that holds the laptop battery should click into place. If the latch does not close, remove the battery and examine the compartment for signs of damage.

5
Troubleshoot the BIOS to determine if there is a hardware problem. Turn on the laptop and immediately enter BIOS setup by holding down the "Del" and "F1" or "F2" keys, depending on the make and model of the laptop. When the BIOS screen appears, see how long it takes for the battery to charge down. If the battery does not last as long as the BIOS setup, a hardware failure may be the problem.

My new battery is not charging what is the problem

If you have purchased a new battery for your laptop because the old one also refused to charge, the problem is likely the connection inside the laptop where the battery connects to the machine itself. Correcting this issue would mean some serious work, and I would not advise that you do this yourself, as it is easy to cause more problems while trying to correct that one. Your best option is to take it in and have it serviced by a professional, or at the very least have your new battery tested to see if it is simply defective. I wish I could give you a 'do it yourself' answer to this, but to try fixing the connection pins yourself would mean taking your laptop apart, and with the compact nature of laptops, there is a lot of room for error when disassembling it - you could end up needing a whole new laptop with just the slightest mistake.

My laptop starts to shut down within 20 mintues being on it. my battery don't hold up either, it gets to hot. i've tried a cooling pad also

Good day.
You haven't mention how old is your laptop. Laptop battery operating hours diminished as it gets old. This is just normal for the type of battery being used in our laptop (also in cellular phones). If your laptop is really that old, there is a need to buy a new battery pack, Just be sure of the brand/model before your buy.
In some cases, the cause of your problem is in the charger or the charging mechanism. You may test your charger/adapter using voltmeter for the actual voltage reading and comparing this to the rating stated in the outer case of the adapter. If you observed a discrepancy in the reading, then buy new adapter.

Just let me know if you need some more help.
Good luck.

Have pluged in charger in laptop but it will not charge. have tried the charger on the other laptop and the charger is working

Hi, If Battery Light is blinking orange, then it could be that your battery is toast and that you need a new battery. That'll cost you about $50.00 for a new one.

Pasario 6500 laptop will not charge, charger is plugged in, turned on and laptop is running on mains power but it will not charge the battery

Most likely your battery stopped recharging. Depending on what type it is, and how old it is, it could be dead by now and needs replacing.
Most laptops can operate connected to their power supplies, even when the battery is taken out.
Some batteries need to be fully discharged for them to take a new charge and perform as new, up to a 1,000 times, according to their manufacturer's specs. Others have what's called a "memory effect". This prevents them from taking a full charge, especially when connected to the laptop almost 100% of the time, and using up some of their charge only ocassionally, when they are disconnected from their power supplies.
You can get replacement ones on eBay for less than the manufacturer's advertised price.
Good luck!

Laptop will not charge, the green light on power lead is on but my laptop wont charge it is a acer aspire 5315 with vista

Okay, It can be 1 of 2 problems here:

1. Your laptop battery is completly dead, this can be caused by the overcharging of the battery, You may need to buy a new battery.

2. The battery charger is set at a voltage that can keep the laptop running, but not charge the battery at the same time, try a different charger (universal)

My battery has stopped charging, and the battery charge light flashes green, then yellow. Is it the battery or charger?

I'm assuming you mean the battery of a laptop. Laptop batteries have a shelf life, which is shortened if the laptop is constantly plugged in the wall. By the same token, if your laptop is constantly plugged in the wall, you don't really need a new battery. (They cost upwards of $80)
