First is the battery is working with 3V lithium battery or not with a digital multi meter if it is working correctly

Comment changer l'heure

N'parlez vous Francais
I'm sorry my French is a little rusty,,,,are you asking about changing time and date on your desktop computer?

Put your mouse cursor on the time, then Right-click on it.
Change the time and date.

If the time and date changes back after you have reset it, then you have a bad CMOS battery. Replace it.
This is a type of watch battery. Generally it is a CR2032.
This flat coin looking CMOS battery is located on the motherboard.

Make sure the computer is off and unplugged from power.
FOLLOW anti-static precautions. (If you do not you will fry out the computer)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ao866I9XpTo
Remove the CMOS battery and replace.
If you come back in a Comment, and state the computer manufacturer name, and model number, I should be able to lead you step by step in replacing the CMOS battery.

How to replace a cmos battery

At any walmart, grocery or drug store. They cost less than $5.00

It's only a watch type battery and the most popular is the CR2032, but take the one inside of your computer out and make sure you buy the same .
Laptops:
Most laptopsrequire you to take the laptop apart to get to the CMOS Battery. It willbe a silver battery about the of a nickel on the motherboard. Themost common is CR2032. Also sometimes the battery will be in a vinylcovering and have a cable that attaches to a port on the motherboard. Whichever type you have you'll need to either remove the battery or unplug the cableand let the laptop sit for an hour or two. Then put it back, reassemblethe laptop and reboot the laptop. With the CMOS battery out the computerwill lose the date, time and password.

Desktops:

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Case, sit the computer on it's side and look inside with a flashlight. You should see the cmos battery sitting somewhere on the motherboard. It will be a shiny silver watch type battery about the of a nickel Just use a small flat head screw driver and pop it out.

Cmos problem: always reset cmos everytime unplug the power cord , but as long as it unplug, it wont reset. change the battery, recheck every cord, reset cmos, check jumper position as manual, done but...

A coin-cell battery (CR2032) usually powers the real-time clock and CMOS memory. The battery is 3 Volts, 3/4" in diameter and has an estimated life of three years. When the computer is plugged in, the standby current from the power supply extends the life of the battery.
Just open the desktop, locate the CMOS (Coincell) and remove using screw driver. Replace the battery with CR2032 or an equivalent one.The following brands are used interchangeably for this item: Energizer (ECR2032), Duracell, Panasonic, Eveready, and 3M etc, which can be purchased from any local electronics store.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

I lose my clock and date settings whenever i switch off my Acerpower desktop pc

I think you need to change your cmos battery. The instructions recommend an anti static wrist strap, It is the correct way but i have changed without but that was my choice.a very common battery is A coin-cell battery (CR2032)

To replace the CMOS battery, follow these steps:

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage components. Perform the procedures described here only at an ESD workstation using an antistatic wrist strap and a conductive foam pad. If such a station is not available, you can provide some ESD protection by wearing an antistatic wrist strap and attaching it to a metal part of the computer chassis.
Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer. Disconnect the computer's power cord from the ac power source (wall outlet or power adapter).
Remove the computer cover.
Locate the battery on the board.
With a medium flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry the battery free from its connector. Note the orientation of the "+" and "-" on the battery.
Install the new battery in the connector, orienting the "+" and "-" correctly.
Replace the computer cover.

hope this helps please rate :)

My computer date and time changes every time i log on. most times it reads 1 / 01 / 2003 what can i do ? thanks Jim

Change the CMOS battery Jim. It's located on the motherboard in a Desktop computer.

The battery is about the size between a US nickle, and a quarter. Has CR2032 on it.
You can go to stores that sell watch batteries, and ask for a CR2032 battery.

Unplug your computer from the surge protector before you do.

More info for identification of the battery,

CMOS battery replacement

Your Pc should have an Intel E210882 motherboard in it.
A coin-cell battery (CR2032) powers the real-time clock and CMOS memory. When the computer
is not plugged into a wall socket, the battery has an estimated life of three years. When the
computer is plugged in, the standby current from the power supply extends the life of the battery.
The clock is accurate to ± 13 minutes/year at 25 ºC with 3.3 VSB applied.
When the voltage drops below a certain level, the BIOS Setup program settings stored in CMOS
RAM (for example, the date and time) might not be accurate. Replace the battery with an
equivalent one. Figure 14 shows the location of the battery.
These batteries are very common and can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Etc...
Here is a link to the motherboard manual with battery replacement procedures:
