Its in protect mode and wont go back to normal

disconnect everything except the power, remote, and ground. turn off then on. if it goes into protect mode then there's a posibility that the amp if fried. check all the speaker inputs and outputs to make sure that there are no stray wires shorting out. if it stays on then you may have a short on a speaker wire or an auxilary input wire. plug each one in one at a time until it goes into protect mode, then that's the shorted wire or it could be a shorted speaker.

My amplifier turned off while playing and wont turn on at all now

Hello, it sounds like you shorted the outputs of your amp or the power supply mosfets shorted. Very common when people have the music at a loud volume. Does the protect light come on? If not then the power supply is probably shorted not letting the protect circuit get any voltage. Some amps do this and other amps if the power supply shorts have the protect cicuit built in such a way that if the power supply shorts out the protect circuit still works. Cause you checked all wiring and redid it and no fuses blew then this is your problem. I repair amps everyday for a living. ?Most of my out of state customers are from fixya.com. I'm the cheapest amp repair business you'll find. If interested send me a private message letting me know what kind of amp it is, name and model number, and i'll get you back up and running with warranty.

Red protection light wont turn 2 green no matter what so the amp wont work

Hello mcis43fan,

The protection circuit can be activated by shorted or grounded wiring or it can be caused by a defect in the amp itself.

First, disconnect all wires except power, ground and the remote turn-on lead and see if the amp powers up normally. If it still goes into protection, the amp is defective, most likely shorted outputs and needs repair or replacement. If the amp powers up normally, test the other wiring for shorts and grounds. You can reconnect them one at a time to determine which one is causing the problem.

Hope this helps.

Protection light stays on even when everything is disconnected.the output transistors are turning red hot instantly and it has a 20 amp draw on it.while it is hooked up to a power supply with no sound...

there is a short somewhere one your board that is putting all the load on your output transistors follow the traces on the board both ways to find the short

Amp neon lights wont turn off

There are two types of power that feed your amplifier. There is a constant power that connects directly to the battery and there's a remote power that usually connects to the remote power output of your deck. Some decks do not have the remote power output, but they have a power antenna output that works just as well.
The remote power is what enables the amplifier to turn off when the car's power turns off.
Either way, it sounds like you have the remote power input on the amp connected to your constant power source.
That would prevent the light from turning off with the car.
If you don't have a remote power or power antenna output on your deck, I would invest in a new one.
However, it is relatively easy to find a remote and a constant power source in your fuse box.
Purchase a fuse tap for a few cents and connect the remote power input on the amp to a power source in the fuse box that turns on and off with the ignition.
Some of the power sources you can find in your fuse box that go on and off with the ignition may be labeled something similar to the following:
ignition, power windows, radio, accessory, etc.
The constant power sources in your fuse box are the ones that don't power off with the car, such as the dome/interior light, power locks, battery, etc.
I hope that some of this helps out a little.

Power light kicks on then off when I turn on the stereo

The amplifier likely has shorted output transistors. To confirm that it's not some other fault, go to the following page. It will guide you through the troubleshooting.

Protection light is on

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

Amp in protection mode

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up normally (doesn't go into protection), the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

Amplifier wont turn on.

Generally, when an amplifier goes into protection when you attempt to power it up, it means that the output transistors have failed.

Measure the DC voltage across the B+ and ground terminals as well as across remote and ground. If you have less than 11 volts when the amp tries to power up, the amp could be shutting down due to low voltage.

If the voltage remains near or above 12v, disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.
