Two things to check.

First in the synch/midi screen make sure the 'mode' option is set properly. The options are REC and REC/PLAY. This tells the metronome (click) when to sound, either just while recording or both when recording and playing back.

The only other thing I can think of would be to make sure that in your monitor selection that the mute button is not pressed. Pressing the 'mute' button does not mute the headphones, just the monitor output.

Best of luck.

Cheers.

Hi, we a Sony DAV-HDX500 System and will not play DVD, it continously says

In most cases when the CD does not play it is possible that the optical head is a suspect. Sometimes it might pick up ordinary audio CD but will not play other formats. This indicates that the optical head is weak and so there is no detection or scanning of the CD. If the optical is working the tracks will be read immediately but with no scanning the laser head can be defective.
The main motor will not work in some cases as unless the tracks are read the drive motor will not work with signal from the processor. Also in some cases the central motor base can shift and so the distance to the disc can be more resulting in low detection. You can pull up the spindle to come closer.
Sometimes certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it will not be read and so will reject. Hence it is ideal to manually clean the laser head eye using a cleaning swap /cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.
If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault.

Hi folks :-) I'm affraid that we have started up wrong, but I hope we can fix it ! Problem: A band, we've made a que-track (everybody's playing and singing at the same time) now we've...

Real musicians do change tempo throughout a song, so its not necessarily a bad thing. As long as you like the sound it doesn't matter if you don't stick rigidly to a fixed tempo. Unfortunately you won't be able to fix the tempo after the initial recording so you'll have to live with it or re-record. If you need a click track to record along to, try recording yourself hitting drum stick together along to the already recorded track. As a human you can track small tempo changes much easier than a computer. If you need to create a count in, just copy and paste a section of this click track to the start of the track. I hope this makes sense!

If any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of a malfunction of the main processor board

The problem is the DAV-BC150 DVD player can only play around 2 mins then start to hear the click sound and jump to next track and next track until all tracks finish. anyone knows why? thanks

I can think of two issues.
1. It can be that the optical head is weak and so is not scanning- check with original DVD to confirm.
2, It can be due to friction of the drive, the speed of the spindle motor can cause this issue. Also check if the height of the spindle is the correct alignment to the optical unit.

Guitar

Hi,

Things to check.

I'm assuming you are using the Hi-z input on the front of the 2488 to line-in your guitar. That input equates to the H input of the 2488 (you can use the front Hi-Z or the normal 1/4 inch input on the back as the H input). Therefore you need to turn up the H input trim pot to hear your guitar coming through. You should see the meters for the main stereo bus moving as signal is coming in. That means your signal is getting into the 2488 but it won't be assigned to any track until you assign input H to a track. Once you assign the input to a track and press the rec button for that track (to arm it for recording) you'll see the meters registering both on the stereo bus and for the track you have assigned.

If you've turned up the H input trim knob and still don't get any sound, insure that the volume knob on the guitar is turned up as well.

If that fails too I would try jiggling or using a different guitar wire.

Good luck.

Guitar effects often disappear after recording

Hi Danny,

You seem to be aware already that the multi-effect acts like a traditional 'insert effect' on a mixer and as such can only be applied to one track/channel at a time (multiple effects / single channel). The problem you're asking about seems to be that the effect is not 'printing' during the recording of your track. Obviously the effect can't 'go away' after recording so it would appear that your guitar effect isn't being recorded (only monitored) when the track is being laid down.

My initial guess here would be that while recording you've been assigning the multi-effect to a channel vs an input. That would explain the effect being audible while monitoring, but the input still being recorded dry even though the effect is heard through the monitors.

So to get this working the way you expect you'd want to insure that you are indeed assigning the multi-effect to input from which your guitar is coming, rather than the track on which it is getting recorded.

Having said that, actually recording dry (like you are doing) and then applying the multi-effect to a new track via a 'bounce' is the way a lot of people (myself included) choose to accomplish this anyway. That way you preserve a dry track and can go back and 'redo' the effect (or choose a different effect instead) later on. It does however introduce another step and use up another virtual track (but the 2488 has 250 of them available which si a big reason the 2488 is so competitive).

Hope this helps.

Understanding the multi effects on the 2488

Hi rmkuzma

You are not recording the effect to track, it is probable that you are perhaps using the effect loop, it will not be recorded to track this way. This how you should really record anyways so that you can go back and change the effect or even just fine tune it in the mix, you can then bounce the track later with effect if you want later. If you want the effect to go to track then

1. Press and hold the MULTI button, then press
the SELECT button on the channel you want to
assign.

2. Press MULTI again to view the effect parameters.
Press the ENTER button to choose an effect
that you want, tweak it for what you want, and it should then go to track

Try that and see how you go. I am happy to talk to you more about it. A FixYa is a good reward for my efforts to help you out. Cheers mate
