Hi,
I dont know due to what reason the chat got disconnected I apologize for the inconvenience but i would like you to check few things on your system, that the smps (power supply which you have changed is that a good one just to confirm that check the power switch which must be at the back where you connect the power cable there would be a 110 and 220 volt sliding switch too, make sure you have the correct rating of voltage selector. If its set to 220 then you need to slide it to 110v but be careful and be cautious while you do that and make sure that you unplug the power cable from the wall socket.
All the best

cheers !!!

Start with the obvious.
Check the power at the wall to make sure it is on.
Check the back of the power supply to make sure the switch is on
Check the motherboard and make sure you didn't accidently knock the power switch wire off the jumpers.

Another thing to consider, what was the reason the power supply was replaced in the first place. If it was replaced dur to nothing happening a it is now, then it could very well be the board is not working, not the power supply.

Post back after you check those =)

One of two things a clogged up CPU fan and block may be the contributor over heated and possibly fried the board. The other issue may be a bad power supply unit, replace the unit and reboot. John

My gateway model gx70183 will not power on or off. Fan was making a lot of noise and the computer quit

hi there, there is already problem on fan, noise of fans could develop overload current on system and this system is protected by overload protection,it will trip off of your cpu.replace fan where ever it was located, there is fans on Power supply unit(PSU) ,also in processor, also in video card,On PSU you can replace PSU,try to find another PC which is not use,use temporary the power supply to check if ignore the tripping of your pc.Also clean the terminals of your memory card by eraser head of pencil, also with the video card.have a nice day, dont forget to fix my rate, thanks a lot.

System wont turn on and there is a solid green light at the top of the mother board of my gateway 310 pc replaced batt on motherboard and it still wont turn on.

hello, this be caused by several things , i am assuming your are okay with opening up a PC since you have already changed the onboard battery.

here are few things you can try to further troubleshoot:
1: though the ligh on motherboard is on, power supply can still be faulty, so lets test that with a paper clip trick,
follow this link there are pictures and very clear instructions: http://www.ehow.com/how_4732521_test-desktop-power-supply.html
if power supply is bad, well then you know what to do... change it.
if the power supply is good:
2: remove all the RAM (memory) chips from motherboard and plug the power cable back in and observe the response (you may or maynot hear THREE beeps) now plug in memory chip and try powering up and try with one chip at a time...if PC boots up with any of the chips in it you knkow you have a faulty memory.
if that didn't work:
3: with everthing put back together try disconnecting just the hard drive and power it to see if you see BIOS screen.
if not:
4: many time this worked for me with Gateway PCs, reseating CPU in its slot but only do it you feel confident doing it because you can end up with a GIANT door stop if any of the pins on the CPU are/is damaged.
you would need some thermal-paste to go back on between CPU and heatsink.
if that didn't work..i think you are up to buying new PC.

let me know if you need more help or not clear about anything...
good luck

Gateway 838GM will not turn on even after installing new power supply. It was on and began making a loud noise and just quit.

Did you test the old power supply? If not, noise could have come from CPU fan. In either case, problem is most likely main board and/or CPU. Try removing all plugin components except CPU and heat sink and see if you get any signs of life.

Gateway MT6451 Does not turn on

Probably the mainboard or flaky power supply.

I'd start by replacing the power supply. Buy one you can use in a new machine, though... or "borrow" one from another machine.

No power

Did the service tech actually look at the computer? I don't know how anyone could make this diagnosis without doing some testing. It could be the motherboard but it could be something else too. I would first suspect the power supply. They frequently go bad. Test that.
