Problem with philips magnavox vcr

I have a Philips Magnavox VCR, i think the model number is, H3823. PL flashes on the front of the vcr, it won't do anything else. I don't have the manual for it. I've been trying to find one online. If someone can help me or send me to a site where I can find it, it would be greatly appriciated. thanks, Ann

Hi,

Most Philips/Magnavox VCR uses "PL" to indicate that the unit is on Parental Lock. Push and hold the power button on the remote control and wait for the unit to power up. This should be within 7 seconds.

Additionally, most (but not all) Philips/Magnavox VCRs are sub-contracted to Funai. Pls try here for Funai downloads of user's manual.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Have a magnavox dvd vcr combo but don't have the right remote for it is it possiable to get the right remote for it

Possibly. Try remotes.com and enter the model number of the unit (do not include the brand name). Otherwise, you may be able to find a universal remote that will work. Make sure that the remote is newer than the DVD/VCR unit by at least 6 months. (There is a delay between the release of a device and the codes for it getting to the people who build and program various universal remotes.)

I hope this helps.

I have magnavox vcrdvd combo every time put a disc in it say disc error

Check your disc compatibility. This is usually cause from not using compatible disc. A disc written on a unit not compatible. Most VCR DVD combos work great with DVD -R. Best DVDs to use, Sony and Maxell. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I only have cable tv. when i connect my magna avox

This unit does not have a tuner to receive TV broadcasting. If you have the owners manual on page 26 it explains this. If you do not have the manual here is a link to one.

VCR MANUAL

Easiest way to connect is with a scart connector from VCR to TV, then just select AV1 from TV (this will depend on what type if TV you have). If you dont have scart, put your aerial into the rear input of VCR, take supplied flylead & connect that from rear output of VCR & connect other end into TVs aerial socket. Insert a pre-recorded tape, press play on VCR & then on TV select channel 0 & tune your TV until the play back picture appears, then store this on TV tuning settings.

VCR will not turn on.

Remove top cover of the VCR. Then look near the back where the plug-in and power supply is. There should be a little glass fuse. You should keep that fuse and take it to the store and replace it with same exact one. If your VCR can be self-repaired, than this is the only thing you can try.

Error 2 on Front Panel

I'm not sure if this is a solution, but it cleared up the problem for me. It turned out there was a loose paper label for the cassette that got stuck inside the VCR with the cassette.

I had to take off the top of the VCR by removing the three screws. I then removed the jammed loose paper and then was able to get the cassette out. The flashing number 2 (whatever that means) went away. The machine seems to be working fine now.

Have you looked on the Philips/Magnavox website for an online, or printable manual? Use your model number.
