Question about Flat Panel Televisions

Unpluging tv to turn back on

When tv is turned off at night, it must be unplugged in order to turn it back on again the next day. Tv will turn on, off and back on without unplugging if done within a few minutes, otherwise it must be unplugged again.

There is a failing part most likely in the power supply or logic control area. I suggest you get it fixed before the defective parts cause other types of fautls.

There are a number of sections in the power supply. The standby supply stays on, and thus radiates some heat. When removing the AC plug from the wall, the power supply cools down. Then the defective part has drifted back in to close enough specs to let the set turn on again. This means that the fault is most likely a thermo sensitive part.

Hi, My name is Anali and I recently purchased a Westinghouse TV from Target. I had it plugged into the wall and working one evening. The next day when I went to turn it on again the red button would...

Hi Anali. That sounds like the powersupply is bad. The tv has a one year manufactuers warranty. Take it back to Target and exchange for another one. Hope this helps.

I have a 50 inch LG plasma tv that is less than 2 years old. It use to turn on by itself throughout the night, and now it's completely not working???

Hi there
Try doing a system reset on the TV, by unplugging everything from it, then wait 3 minutes and plug the power lead in only. If it works, then plug everything back in one by one. If the problem persists it may be that the software has been corrupted in an update process, which can be performed at night via the aerial signal (this may be why it was turning on at night). In which case contact the TV manufacturer.
Hope this helps

I turned on the tv last night and it worked for a few minuets then it went out. I unplugged the tv and then back in and I do not even get the red light on the Tv to show up?

It sounds like a power surge might of ruin one of your boards. How old is your TV, what brand, model. Always use a surge protector as the electric company will not take any responsibility. Try turning off the unit again and unplugging it. Leave it unplugged for at least 3-6 hours, this will give it enough time to discharge. Plug it back it. Turn it on, what do you see or hear. Do you hear a high pitch noise if only for a second or two. Do you see a pin light at the center of the screen for a second or two. Your tube could have went bad. It cost to much to repair TV's these days. If it is not under warranty. Consider looking on craigslist, there are some great deals on there. Hope this helps, let me know if I can help you further.

Too Vague, can you be more discriptive.
Are you hooked to cable? does this happen when using Gaming? DVD, VCR?
Cable box?

Tv will not turn on

Had same problem, no turn on.
No blinks, by the way.
Checked fuses, everything is ok.
Had Panasonic tech check it, and he found that by disconnecting the DT (digital tuner) board, the system would "click".
He said $700 total to repair ($500 parts). I said no.
I got the TV to work, by unpluging and then pluging back the DT board WHILE POWER ON.
Now TV works, but if I turn the TV off I have to do the unplug plug sequence.
This is VERY DANGEROUS as there are high voltages in the TV, so I don't recommend it to anyone not trained.
My long term solution? Find a cheap DT board on ebay or WWW
