Question about Philips Magnavox 27MS343S 27" TV

4 Answers

MAGNAVOX 51MP6200D/37 My TV went all pink and then black. I am not able to get a picture on it anymore. There is a constant blinking on the on/off switch-1 fast and 6 slow blinks. When I plug TV in and turn it on, the screen goes red and then black in a few seconds. This TV is less than 2 years old. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong and how I could fix it. Thanks.

My Panasonic HD TV is about 14 years old. Recently the predominant color of everything on the screen is pink, no white. Can it be fixed?

The same issue: 6 slow blinks, 1 fast blink... crt issue.. cost is too much to repair $300 to $400... Trash time. but it's 51MP6200D, BIG TV, But Trash.. The replacement LCD TV is a better choice, spend the extra money and get a new set. Might have to down size to a 46 but at least it will be new. Old TV's are just not worth the time. Someone out there might want the other parts, maybe - but not worth parting out - same your self time and Trash it.

I had the same problem--tv less than two years--took it to the shop and the serviceman said a board had to be sent to Magnavox for them to do because they would not sell him the part........which would result in a delay of up to two weeks and almost 3/4 the $ amount I paid for the tv. I will NOT be buying another Magnavox/Phillips tv. I agree, this set has been garbage. Everyone needs to go back to making a quality product since they charge quality prices!

You will have to give the set out for service. This is not something you can service yourself.

This can be some failed components in the CRT bias and drive circuits, or maybe a CRT has failed. This has to be determined by taking measurements and doing some tests.

I believe that your set may have been manufactured by Philips.

Magnavox 51MP6200D/37 has no sound or picture. Flashing code 68 (6 long, 8 rapid) on on/off button. What does code 68 indicate for this model?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips & Magnavox TVs are entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.

Magnavox 51MP6200D/37, when watching, the picture faded to black and then the sound went within a minute. now the power light just blinks and to turn it off we have to unplug it.

maybe you set it in freeze mode or timer.... the blinking reason mostly is for freeze and standby mode.... try to rest your program in tv.

I had a similar problem with my magnavox tv with the blinking light issue. Eventually it just didn't come one anymore. Looking at other forms they said the problem was a bad capacitor number 2074 located on the power supply board. When I opened my tv, I noticed that the capacitor was bulging and burnt up. I bought a new one labeled 2200uf 35v and did some solder to attach the new piece. Put the tv back together and it works like new. No more blinking light. I hope this helps.
